The USA really needs to start researching Thorium / LFTR in addition to coal for electricity production.
Where do you think the idea was developed? Why should we divert limited funds away from technology that is well proven and providing an industrial scale commodity to the market? Following ideas like the one you posted will simply bankrupt the country or organization that pursues it. If it were truly cheaper to produce electric power in the manner of your idea, then it would have been done long ago. The current systems did not arise accidentally.

We cannot mine uranium—with a few miners who take the jobs willingly——
BUT! we can be mandated to use light bulbs with Mercury inside, which require special handling to throw away...
Sure do love the contradictions with Democrats!!!!
