I have 2 flood lights behind the house, one is regular incandescent and the other is CFL. Both are 100 watt and the CFL really looks anemic when compared to the incandescent, up close and at a distance.

The manufacturers advertise that CFLs are about 4 times as efficient so a 23 watt CFL is "equal" to a 100 watt incandescent. From what I have seen a 3x multiplier is more accurate, so you would need a 33 watt CFL to match a 100 watt incandescent. If your CFL actually used 100 watts of electricity it would be an immensely bright bulb.

I put an LED floodlight in one of my outdoor sockets last week. It looks like it illuminates the house just as well as the halogens in the other sockets. Supposed to last 50,000 hours.

That is the absolute truth! I have the same sort of setup. The CFL absolutely SUX. Claims to have the same output as a comparable incandescent bulb but clearly doesn't. I just had to try one... should have spent the money on beer..

I’ve always wanted to ask the people who LOVE CFLs if they are color blind. Can they not see the difference between incandescent and fluorescent? Good for you if you can’t. I can, and I’m NOT color blind, or a cretin.
