Besides, Vattel was a foreigner, who worte in French. Since when do FReepers want foreign law to be the deciding factor in a matter of U. S. constitutional interpretation?

Because it's been proven that the Founders did indeed use Vattels, WRITTEN IN FRENCH, when they wrote the Constitution. Not been keeping up on the research? Go throw rocks somewhere else. I don't debate proven points.

There are so many ignorant people out there, claiming to be intellectually superior and therefore having the right to decide things for everyone else. Just makes my blood boil.

Of course Vattel’s writings were in French. Hello, he was French and wrote in his mother tongue!

Secondly, at our country’s founding it had to be decided what our national language was going to be. They were considering German, so if things were decided differently at that time we may all be speaking Deutsch today.
