China Squeezes Foreigners for Share of Global Riches (Multinationals still getting played)

China Squeezes Foreigners for Share of Global Riches

By SHAI OSTER, NORIHIKO SHIROUZU And PAUL GLADER

BEIJING—Foreign companies have been teaming up with Chinese ones for years to gain access to the giant Chinese market. Now some of the world's biggest companies are taking a risky but potentially rewarding second step—folding pieces of their world-wide operations into partnerships with Chinese companies to do business around the globe.

General Electric Co. is finalizing plans for a 50-50 joint venture with a Chinese military-jet maker to produce avionics, the electronic brains of aircraft. The deal with Aviation Industry Corp. of China would give GE access to a Chinese government project aimed at challenging Boeing Co. and Airbus in the civilian-aircraft market.

General Motors Co. established a joint venture this year with SAIC Motor Corp., its longtime partner in China, to produce and sell their no-frills Wuling-brand microvans in India, and eventually in Southeast Asia and other emerging markets as well.

The two deals show China Inc.'s growing international ambitions, as well as its increasing leverage over foreign partners. To make the GE deal happen, GE Chief Executive Jeffrey Immelt made an extraordinary concession, agreeing to fold into the venture all of GE's existing world-wide business in nonmilitary avionics. GM, in its deal, contributed technology, its manufacturing facilities in India and use of its Chevrolet brand name in that market.

Some day, they will be unceremoniously kicked out by Chinese who have nothing but contempts for them by then. Or whatever assets of theirs left in China can be nationalized in all but name.

I heard that Japan was pushed into declaring war on America because we denied them oil.

This will come back to bite us. There is another Pearl Harbor in our future.

Total insanity, or maybe the bottom line is absolutely the only value that exists at GE.

They don’t care. Won’t surprise me if they relocate their corporate headquarter to Shanghai. However, it would be easier to get some bailout money in U.S. if their company goes south. When they make money, they go global and privatize their gains. When they lose money, they suddenly go local and socialize their loss.

Who knows? The guy who came up with this “brilliant” idea could have been promoted, and got his raise, while lauded as a “true genius” who showed what “thinking outside the box” is all about.

It’s amazing how many national security considerations of the US and our traditional allies have been tossed aside for the sake of a buck since the end of the Cold War.

“We can always fool the foreigner” -ancient Chinese proverb

Anyone who does business with Chinese doesn’t know s*** about them and is a fool.

This is the NWO of the boardroom. No borders, only States with undeserving workers who will either work or starve. There will never be another Middle Class of common people anywhere in the world. It will be forbidden.
Bow to the Charter of the United Nations.

Why would they attack a country they will own half of? Sovereignty of States will not be permitted by the UN.

Just one correction to your post. Corporate suits don’t bend morality for “raises.” They’re after bonuses; that’s where they get 75% of their bigger money. Quarterly bonuses are why corporate only plans for a few months at a time, and why they’re willing to rape their own grandmothers for the BIG money. They’ll do anything. I spent twelve years in big Pharma, one of the most corrupt industries in the world, and I could tell stories from my days in middle management you’d not believe.

If it can ever be proven that even a shred of technology transfer, from one of these quisling “joint ventures”, was
used, by the Chinese, to kill US military or citizens...... Then these CEOs and Boards should face firing squads.

And there's quite a constituency on here that supports this.

I brought up the concept of patriotism on a "free trade" thread and I was chastised. Go figure.

Yeah there are a lot of people here in denial about free trade and it's long term implications. Patriotism should be our first consideration. Protecting vital industries in any trade deal should be next. Tariffs would have been far superior and constitutional compared to the nationalization of our auto industry.

I don't mind buying from China and sending our money over there but it's being funneled into the Chinese government for their illicit use rather than going to the Chinese people. Their standard of living doesn't change in effect we are subsidizing slavery and in the long run it only hurts us.

Anyone notice where Fig Newtons are being made?(Mexico) M&Ms have distributed by on their labeling who knows where these are being made. Ever notice the price, it never went down. They pocket the savings, fired american workers and I wouldn't be surprised if our government subsidized the move to Mexico. I'm paying the same price for cheap crap that I was paying for quality American goods, the stuff breaks in a day or after one or two uses.

It's pretty sad when the only manufacturer of American food products easy to find on the shelves is Newman's Own a charity for God sakes.

I have no idea what they base their beliefs upon. I do know that ‘establishment’ Republican supporters do get flustered and will start calling you names when you bring out too much information about the NWO and steps it is taking to accomplish their goals.

I don’t think they have anything to worry about. There is so much apathy towards the NWO on FR, you can shovel it into the bins. The NWO will slide into place and get everyone seated and served before most FReepers even realize what took place.

GE Chief Executive Jeffrey Immelt...... Another free traitor. The Chinese will steal any GE technology it can. GE is going to allow itself to be plundered in order to make some short term revenue
