You got that right. If this economy ever improves, I see a wholesale job shift with workers fleeing their present jobs due to ill treatment.

I’m not a whiner but my job cancelled 1/3 of our holiday pay and took a week of our vacation next year and called it an improvement.

Todays workplace is a punitive joke for the most part...Glad I’m not starting out in the meat grinder...These companies just use people up, and spit them out the door like so much trash...With a never ending line of poor slobs to take their place...

I am 49 years old and have been at more job going on 14 years. I realize I may not ever work another “real” job again so I suck it up and do what I must.

Fortunately, my house is paid off and I have little debt. I also got a little side action for money a couple times a month, so I am better off than most.

It would be hard to replace me, but I ain’t fooling myself that it can’t happen, as the company hasn’t been noted for smart dealing with personel in the past. All in all, it is the newer employees who are getting the worst end of the stick. And the companies know they can get away with it now.

They'll be used as punching bags...sad stuff...

In many companies, those left working are totally overworked, doing 3x the work for the same pay, taking up the slack for all those laid off...

In many cases, those left working are not convinced they were the lucky ones...

How bad of an environment is this?

Hideous, I’ll be amazed if there isn’t a complete revolt at some point. This is how unions originally formed.
