In all the other matters, I say good for her. Although I don't see how the order that John has no authority over his own small children could ever stand up in court, she was a lawyer and should know that.
After reading the Examiner account; several thoughts.
Elizabeth Edwards had every right to be pizzed at John; but there is no escaping the scripture that states that if we do not forgive others, God will not forgive us. Pretty shakey ground for someone about to step out into eternity, to be yelling unforgiveness to someone; even a cheating, lowlife scumbag husband. She should have left the revenge in God’s hands. He is SO much more thorough than anything Liz could do. Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Also; I don’t think that a lot of the stuff SHE thought she could control after her death merely by SAYING so, will NOT actually hold water. Courts are pretty edgy about allowing someone “a hand from the grave.”

The writer incorrectly assumes several things. First that John Edwards has a conscience, second that he has a soul, for he is , after all, a lawyer- the lowest form of life on planet earth. Another subset of this sad story is that Elizabeth (a lawyer) is metaphorically “screwing” John (another lawyer)from the grave. The answer to this problem is that John can “channel” Elizabeth from the grave and get forgiveness from her ghost...

I thoroughly believe that God reserves a special place in Hell for those who wantonly partake in the destruction of His covenant of marriage.
Many in NC knew John Edwards’ wife as a vindictive and sometimes cruel woman. Edwards married her to further his ambitions and she never let him forget it, belittled him publicly at times. While he no doubt made out quite well as an ambulance chaser prior to his very shortlived political career, I have no doubt that the vast majority of any estate was actually hers.
Spiting a child is a little much even for her, though. I smell at least a certain amount of sensationalism.
Who has primary custody of Elizabeth’s two little children? if it is John, the keeping them apart from Rielle’s daughter will not stand up in court. And if it is the eldest daughter, does John not have standing to fight that custody arrangement? Though if they take the children’s wishes into the decision, maybe they have chosen to live with their sister?
I despise John and hate what he did to her. He is such a low life. I hope his other dealings get him in prison.
I hope this is not true. Hating and cursing is no way to prepare yourself to meet your maker.
I would think this clause would be contestable and thus open the whole thing up to being contested. I hope she set aside a big pile of money to defend the will.

Ohhhh. So much here in the department of sin for all to see and relect upon.
We have John breaking one of the big ten - adultery and creating all the usual mayhem on love - the greatest love available on earth - family love. Then we have Liz cursing him and refusing to forgive him on her death bed - the central commandment Jesus gave of Christians - forgive as I forgive you...
Who knows what will happen with all this but it is a good lesson for us all to be true to love above all else. Beyond that, life is nonsense.
I stopped reading this bogus piece of so-called journalism where it asserted that she told him on her deathbed that she would never forgive him. I understood Mrs. Edwards to be a strong Christian woman and as such she had to be aware of Jesus admonition that whatever you bind on earth you will bind in heaven and that you must forgive others in order to receive God’s forgiveness. She had to have forgiven him. End of story.
Too bad she didn’t just give back all the $$ he stole from baby doctors?

This article is BS, I did not see a divorce decree. That means that John Edwards will be the owner of all commonly held properties. That includes homes, stocks, bonds and cash.
I don’t think that the witch can dictate from the grave that a man can’t do this or that with his own children. She’s dead. Unless he has been found an unfit parent, it is he, not the 28 year old daughter who is going to call the shots on who they meet, and where they live.

Elizabeth Edwards loved the big money that John brought in from his bullcrap lawsuits. She is hardly innocent. I bet they used to have many hearty laughs and giggles as the money rolled in from Johns trial lawyer business. She didn’t figure that the same sleazy John in the courts would also be sleazy with her
