>>“I will never stoop so low as to allow another man to make me hate him” <<

It’s been said that you can’t hate someone that you’ve never loved.

[Some way, some how, JE will pay for his despicable cheating. ]

Forget Elizabeth, what about the public who were lead down the garden path by the media who whitewashed Edward’ double dealings. Do you think a Republican could have survived this?

This article is BS, I did not see a divorce decree. That means that John Edwards will be the owner of all commonly held properties. That includes homes, stocks, bonds and cash.

John boy doesn’t fall too far from Lindsey Graham’s tree.
Did Sherman’s march have that deep an effect on the local male persona?

“I understood Mrs. Edwards to be a strong Christian woman “

I understood her to be a rabid pro-abortionist. Do you know differently?

Oh and this story reeks of schadenfreudian goodness.

What two trial lawyers divorcing might look like - akin to dividing by zero.

Oh, please. You don’t really read the Bible, do you? Otherwise, you might discover that forgiveness is a prerequisite to salvation, vengeance belongs only to God, and God is not His name.

I do not understand what you wrote. It's not in context with what I wrote. I never talked about her final moments or whether she was a good Christian. I do not know exactly what is required at end of life. I also know that neither of us know what TRULY happened as she took her last breath as we were not there, and the Enquirer received only tips from someone. But I do think she was a good mother, and I don't think she needed to be a doormat with forgiving him. Maybe to Christians she had to be. You guys forgive people who murdered your child. In my religion that would be impossible; only the child could forgive and he is dead. That is why in our religion murder (premeditated wanton killing) is an unforgivable sin forever.

“Elizabeth angrily screamed at John: “You ruined my life — I’ll NEVER forgive you!’”

I do not believe this. I read several articles in our local news about Cate and John keeping a vigil by her bed until she passed. This is not how I remember it. Elisabeth ask John to come to the house and stay with them. She ask him to be the person that raised Emma Claire and Jack. From something Cate said led me to believe she died peaceful. John was on one side of the bed, Cate the other side. They were both holding her hands. She kept turning from one to the other repeating “I’m alright—I’m alright. This came from Cate, and the story I am reading here just does not fit in.

Elizabeth Edwards was an ice cold political operator, a calculating and ruthless attorney with an implacable hatred for the unborn. While her husband would make anyone's skin crawl, she chose to publicly stand by him and to try to foist his incompetent and supremely blackmailable carcass on our country. While nothing she could do to her husband could tarnish her at this point, she was far from a "lovely woman."

Bingo. She was also Hillary's BFF and schemed and destroyed with her for many years - they both shared poisonous hearts full of razor blades. All of this forced weeping for her is absurd. She went out the way she lived - stabbing with knives, from the back.

I don’t think that the witch can dictate from the grave that a man can’t do this or that with his own children. She’s dead. Unless he has been found an unfit parent, it is he, not the 28 year old daughter who is going to call the shots on who they meet, and where they live.

They are both classless trolls.

She didn’t do anything illegal.

I hate to break it to you, but neither did he. Not in 2010 America where sodomy is a Constitutional right, gays are in Army and the Swiss are repealing their incest laws.

Obviously, there is a higher law, but in terms of Elizabeth extracting her revenge in this world she has far over-reached the bounds of decency given that we live in a 'no fault divorce' culture.

I'm looking forward to next years "US" magazine article of John and Rellie and the four or five Edwards kids in the mansion, and John's tearful admission of how sad he is that Elizabeth died.. blech.

There is only one sin that is unforgivable and murder isn’t it.

My take on it as well. Odd to see everyone sympathizing with her. We are conservatives, we don’t sympathize with everyone who plays the victim card.

Too many jerk offs out there, and I think she was one of them, judging from her past, judging from even marrying a slimeball like this guy (don’t tell me she didn’t know he was a slimeball), want to be victims when their own house of cards falls down.

The most telling, is her want of revenge on her death bed. For me, this says much about her. Most of us, when we die, would hope we’ve had a good life, were good to others, and that we left our affairs in order. Not just our financial affairs, but you want a legacy that sets your family affairs in order, not a legacy that causes strife for years after your death. That’s what smarmy self centered, selfish evil people do.

We all have to die. The difference between class and being an ass is that you may not be able to choose how you die, but doing so with dignity while helping the lives of those around you makes you a cut above the rest. Only an jackass reaches out with his/her flailing arms and attempts to take as many “loved ones” with him/her as they drown.

On the other hand... She is not part of my family, and I wish no good will on any of the Edwards, so to see one drowning rat attempt to cause severe mental anguish upon another slime ball, makes me happy. Call it karma, and I love to see a man who ruined the lives of so many with his legal practice, get a bit of that same karma back in spades.

Maybe later he can channel her spirit, and convince a judge of her true intentions....

Oh yeah, and that whole “woman with cancer” thing does not make anyone a hero in my book. Sorry, there is more to life than being a victim. Plenty of men die from all sorts of things, and plenty of women die from all sorts of things. Just because you have cancer, or breast cancer, does not make you a hero. If it does, the definition of that word has been changed very much since I was a young man, and in any event, I reject the medias new definition of a hero. When returning vets cannot be heroes because the media says so, but getting cancer makes you a hero, I’m not going to be part of that.

Both good people, and slimeballs get cancer. Being diagnosed with it, does not let you off the hook for living a slimy life. I’m sorry, and it especially does not elevate you to hero status.

I read that she wasn’t a lovely woman - she felt she was better than her husband due to her family compared to his - and she didn’t let him forget it. During the campaign she was a shrew and no one even wanted to ride in a car with her to the point that John once had their car stopped and got out and got in the next car- complaining about having to ride with her. There was a whole article about this somewhere. She would have done anything to get to the WH, including ignoring his affair, a la Hillary.

Not saying that John is anything worthwhile, but she was no saint.

I hope she has made her peace with God.

Hate to tell you, but having an affair in no way makes one legally an unfit parent these days. The older sister has no rights, except she could probably get visitation rights if he tried to keep the children away from her.

“She is in peace now and will wait for him with Jesus by her side.”

Uhhhh.......seems to me she might not be with Jesus if He is to be taken at His word: “For if you forgive men for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. BUT, if you do not forgive men, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions...” Matt. 6:14,15. This is not the only place this is found.....

Forgiveness is a vital characteristic for one who believes, one who will be with Him forever. She seemed to lack this (as most liberals). Bitterness and revenge are not characteristics of those who belong to Christ.

I cannot judge - only God knows - but it seems likely that neither Elizabeth nor John will be with Jesus. He, of course, still has time to repent and believe....and forgive......

John Edwards is conniving slime so will find ways to undo much of this. Elizabeth Edwards will have trouble enforcing all this mumbo jumbo in her attempt to “reach from beyond the grave”

Elizabeth Edwards loved the big money that John brought in from his bullcrap lawsuits. She is hardly innocent. I bet they used to have many hearty laughs and giggles as the money rolled in from Johns trial lawyer business. She didn’t figure that the same sleazy John in the courts would also be sleazy with her

Elizabeth was John’s co-conspirator for years. His partner in crime. She loved the millions and being very rich and being along for the ride. I would never rate her as someone with high morals or high character. She was as bad as John. She probably gave him a lot of his lawyering ideas.

Elizabeth was four years older than John. This tends to create a family dynamic where the wife feels she should dominate. And John being younger made him more prone to wanting something new and exciting in women....an affair
