Thankfully, TV and the blogosphere havent suffered any major Birther eruptions in a while, but Hawaiis new Democratic governor, Neil Abercrombie, is poised to reignite the dumbest of Barack Obamas scandals in the name of putting a long-overdue stop to it. Abercrombie intends to settle the question of Obamas citizenship status once and for all by releasing more previously-undisclosed birth records:
[T]he governor made clear in the CNN interview that he will push forward on this matter regardless of whether the White House is privately worried that it may bring more attention to the so-called birthers who continue to deny that Obama was born in America despite evidence showing that he was.
We havent had any of those discussions, Abercrombie said of the White House. Its a matter of principle with me. I knew his mom and dad. I was here when he was born. Anybody who wants to ask a question honestly could have had their answer already.
Asked if one option is to ask Obama to waive his privacy rights so that a copy of his actual birth certificate can be released publicly, Abercrombie cut off a reporters question.
No, no, no its not up to the president, he said. It has nothing to do with the president. It has to do with the people of Hawaii who love him, people who love his mom and dad. It has to do with respect the office of the president is entitled to. And it has to do with respect that every single persons mother and father are entitled to.
All the evidence we have overwhelmingly indicates that Obama was indeed born in Hawaii and is constitutionally eligible for the presidency.

Depends on whether you want to run as a Democrat (no check) or Republican (show all papers plus submit to a full body cavity search /s)
Yes. Read the law.
Of course there was a motive for the birth ann. - to guarantee him American citizenship.
If thats the law, then why does anyone even care about the birth certificate? Seems to me he would be ineligible no matter where he was born. Which is it we’re arguing? That he can’t be President because he’s not a NBS (in which case it really doesn’t matter where he was born), or that he can’t be President because he wasn’t born here?
The maternal grandmother put in the ann. to guarantee US citizenship.
Since when does a hospital announcement guarantee US citizenship?
Obamas father was an African Nationalist and hated the United States. If anything he would have TRUMPETED the fact that his son was born in Africa.
And the Kenyan Parliament has done just that several times over in their official records since obummer was elected.
Most likely they found an old blank, filled it in with forged signatures and placed it under a UV lamp to age it quickly turning it yellow.
The entire background is so murky and peculiar that people want full disclisure.
Again, the white maternal grandparents lived in Honolulu. It was in their intetest to establish US birth for their only daughter’s child.
It doesn’t, but it is a piece of false data used ti construct a legend. Take a look at how many people even at FR cite that ann.

I dont care who you are... having a mother named “Stanley” has got to mess you up
How much of a dumbass was grampa to name his daughter Stanley?
So she get gets pregnant by a black man when she is 16 (in 1950’s america!!) and they get married before he is born...
Sounds like a great log cabin story like Abe Lincoln, huh?
Want their something about the microfilm of the newspaper birth notices being faked?
This is a lie. We continue to deny that sufficient evidence has been supplied to support the assertion that Barry was born anywhere, let alone in the USA.
And BTW, the upcoming forgery will be brilliant.
Needless to say, I disagree with you regarding Obama’s constitutional eligibility. Without indulging in rancor and invective that marked both Michael Medved’s (are you a ‘MedHead?’) and Hugh Hewitt's radio shows yesterday in their ad hominem attacks on ‘birthers,’ I would posit the following questions and welcome your response:
1) What is the status of the Posey bill (H.R. 1503) that would require future presidential candidates in 2012 and beyond to provide a copy of their original birth certificate?
2) Do you anticipate House hearings on the Lakin court martial? I believe the Republican-controlled House could achieve a political coup by subpoenaing Lakin (shackles, jumpsuit and all) who is currently incarcerated in Ft. Leavenworth. Would such testimony damage or enhance Republican electoral prospects in 2012 and beyond?
3) Bills have been introduced in several state legislatures that would require presidential candidates to document that they were born in the United States, as well as the legal status of their parents thus meeting the ‘natural born’ requirement under Article II, Section 1, Clause 5. (A proxy document such as the vaunted ‘certification of live birth’ or a classified ad in a local newspaper won't cut it.) Such legislation passed the Arizona House in April but was not taken up by the Senate in time. Do you think that these pending bills will gain traction in the coming months? If so, would not Mr. Obama be forced to stand down for re-election in 2012 because his purported ‘certification of live birth’ will have been deemed inadequate?
Gov. Abercrombie's birther gambit is in concert with Obama and his inner circle. They know that only a handful of states denying Obama a place on their presidential ballots would end his presidency. Abercrombie mistakenly thinks that he has sufficient powers of persuasion to avert such a political train wreck. I am less concerned about Abercrombie and more concerned about ‘conservatives’ like you and Medved who trash the constitution. Unless and until the U.S. Supreme Court speaks definitively and decisively on what ‘natural born’ means, I wll never consider Obama to be a legitimate president. But as your ideological mentor David Horowitz wrote in December 2008, that horse has left the barn. Perhaps what the American people have to look forward to is an Obama presidential library at which his vital, academic and other personal records might finally see the light of day. I'm not holding my breath!
I like a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy, but I draw the line at believing that when a kid was 3 days old, and in a mud hut in Kenya somewhere, his Grandparents, halfway around the world, decided that “in case” he was famous someday, they’d better provide a basis for him being born in the US, so they constructed false birth announcements, and had them placed in the local papers.
Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar.
Yes then why won't Obama release his long form and school records?
If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck its probably a duck. If it slithers like a snake, looks like a snake and strikes like a snake its probably a snake.
They wouldn't have to place a "false birth announcement" if they registered a home birth with their own witnesses and no doctor or hospital. The birth announcement would follow the false registration. Now if they wanted little obie to be a US citizen (not necessarily famous) that's all they had to do.
I argue none of the other issues. I see no reason why a long form isn’t being submitted.
The fact of the birth announcements is my only point. I see no one disputing the fact that they WERE in the newspapers. I just see no legitimate reason for someone to do so (at the time) if in fact the kid was born halfway around the world.
Also, I’m puzzled by some logic. Is the issue with Obama not being a Natural Born Citizen, or not being born in the US? I see both arguments in this thread. If the argument is that Obama isn’t a NBS because his father was not a US citizen, then it really doesn’t matter where he was born, and this search for the birth certificate is a total waste of time.
