Though the Eagles didnt have a chance to make news on the field tonight, they made some more news off the field.
Peter King of NBC reported during Football Night in America that President Barack Obama recently called Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to congratulate the team for giving quarterback Mike Vick a second chance.
President Obama explained that a level playing field rarely exists for prisoners who have completed their sentences. Vicks success gives all of them hope.
In our view, Obamas gesture also provides Vick with the kind of positive reinforcement that will help keep him out of any trouble during the 2011 offseason, once he is left to his own devices.
I wouldn't care much about dogfighting. It's just trashy. Actual torture is a whole 'nother thing.
That's true, but only those of us who can run a 4.3 forty and put a football in a receiver's hands at sixty yards are likely to get it.
Wow, for once I agree with Obama.
Uh, what about hanging around with known thugs and having his co-felon shot at his birthday party?
The same goes for Philadelphia. DeSean Jackson (another stud on my team), LeSean McCoy, and Jeremy Maclan all give Vick a heck of alot of tools to use.
Many people are upset with the whole thug culture in the NFL. Vick is an easy target for the expression of that upset.
” As an Eagles fan since 1947, who the hell cares what Obama thinks about the team or Mike? This guy has had so many disastrous policies that this commentary seems almost absurd as the same Philly fans who need jobs so they can attend an Eagles game dont have them because of this naifs agenda! Yipe “
And in the spirit of football bipartisanship this Cowboys fan agrees with you.
P.S. Take it easy on us in the last game...... On the other hand bring it on............. Now we are back to reality
Is this The Onion? Who cares about Vic. WHY IN THE HELL IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES GETTING INVOLVED IN THIS?
Are we here now? He must see himself as community organizer of a very big community. God help us.
This affirmative action president has no idea what to do.
The conclusion expressed in your purported syllogistic title is faulty.
“President Obama explained that a level playing field rarely exists for prisoners who have completed their sentences. Vicks success gives all of them hope.”
This premise for the call is bogus. 99.999% of those being released from prison have nothing even remotely resembling what Vick had waiting when released.
And for those supporting him as a changed man who has turned his life around, watch and listen to any interview he has done recently. At a minimum a narcissist and most likely a psychopath. This story won’t end well.
Just ask Quanis Phillips...
People really have no idea what he ACTUALLY did. I heard some of it on the radio, and it is SO far beyond “dogfighting”. I couldn’t have even imagined the horrible things this “man” did. He should NEVER have another animal, and I hope someone is keeping a close eye on his children.
The story here is that Obama deemed this situation worthy of his commentary.
Who’s defending what he did? But it has no bearing on his profession.

McNabb was the only portion of the Eagles franchise that had any class, and the ENTIRE team sh*t on him.
Philadelphia is unique place. The three enduring faces of Philly are Iverson,Vick, and Fast Eddie.
1. No need to be defensive.
2. Vick should not be in a position with the NFL right now to be role model.
3. Your definition and my definition of accountable come from two different meanings.
4. His talent allowed him to live a privileged life and he used that life to be cruel to animals.
5. No need to create another law, I think we have enough on the books. The NFL is at fault with this one imo. He choose to be inhumane so the NFL should have chosen not to endorse that behavior by allowing him the privilege of playing.
What is so hard for Eagles’ fans is that black cloud hovering over the city for at least 70 yrs!LOL. We never think the game is won till two days afterwards. I mean the Vikes and the Boys could beat these guys. After all the D gives up over 25 pts. a game. Our D stinks. Our O is good as long as Vick’s legs hold up. We shall see after Tues.night. We need to beat your Boys for a bye and possible 2nd seed if if if the Bears actually lose one.
Horse Hockey!!!
Vick should have gotten the max (that’s 30 years, folks!), and never, ever been allowed back in the NFL.
Now he’s just another reason to hate Philadelphia
