Though the Eagles didnt have a chance to make news on the field tonight, they made some more news off the field.
Peter King of NBC reported during Football Night in America that President Barack Obama recently called Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to congratulate the team for giving quarterback Mike Vick a second chance.
President Obama explained that a level playing field rarely exists for prisoners who have completed their sentences. Vicks success gives all of them hope.
In our view, Obamas gesture also provides Vick with the kind of positive reinforcement that will help keep him out of any trouble during the 2011 offseason, once he is left to his own devices.
“A level playing field exists..”
What the heck does that even mean? I hate Vick and I always will. The only reason I will watch a game with him is the possibility that he will get hurt. Yep, I said that!
you are reaching on this one...
Vick served the sentence handed down in addition to the financial ruin he has (rightfully) suffered.
We all should go post this on the PETA web site.
Obamma is the kiss of death. Chances are, Vick may not finish the season now.
Vick is the prodigal son and McNabb is the despised faithful son. Woof.
Let Obama give his dog Bo to Vick, since Vick is whining that he wants a dog as a pet.
Hey Vick how about pictures of the dogs you tortured and killed, give those to your kid/kids.
Amazing when you see such garbage responses coming from many here that profess to be Christians, huh? Apparently, Forked tongue Idiots come from all political ranks, Democrats, Independents, and Repubs alike. =.=
For once I agree with the Prez. Vick seems to be making the most of his second chance. And what an amazing football player!
In other areas, bank robbery is wrong.
Awww, not this crap again! Vick has paid his debt to society and has been nothing been exemplary since his release, speaking out to young people on how wrong he was in his dog-fighting days. I say give Vick the second chance he deserves. I remember his days here in Atlanta and he is far removed from that character.
By all accounts Vick has repented. How about some forgiveness?
Didn’t mohammad have some crazy thing against keeping dogs as pets? That explains why Hussein has no problem with dog cruelty.
And some Republicans/conservatives support cat killing.
Vick has done his time. I have no problem with him as long as he stays out of trouble.
On the other hand, Obama has yet to face up to his crimes yet.
As an Eagles fan since 1947, who the hell cares what Obama thinks about the team or Mike? This guy has had so many disastrous policies that this commentary seems almost absurd as the same Philly fans who need jobs so they can attend an Eagles’ game don’t have them because of this naif’s agenda! Yipe.
Vick has hidden millions from the bankruptcy court. He gave it to family and friends in the months before his bankruptcy. He has robbed his creditors, and given his money to his posse. Until he does the right thing, and makes an attempt to repay his creditors, he has not ‘redeemed’ himself.
I’m with you.
Vick did NOT pay a reasonable debt to society. He should have served at least 10 years. He didn’t even do five.
I forgive him, but I do think he got off a bit easy.
Member of peta and the national human rip-off-association in good standing I assume.
I wonder if Zero would have popped a boner if the Eagles had given say.... Whitey Whitney a “second chance”.
