I hate to throw a wrench, but our medicaid families cry racism/class warfare unless every possible test and treatment is given to the dying, and some in the medical field abuse the government for profit. The self sufficient are more likely to face the truth with dignity when all hope is exhausted. Some sort of guidelines need to be established for public care.

“Some sort of guidelines need to be established for public care.”

Obamacare is making all care “public care”.

Further, IMHO the one group that deserves public help with healthcare are the elderly, as they are weak and can no longer work (in many cases).

We don't need guidelines. We only need to respect the Declaration of Independence which validates the "right to life."

If someone wishes to "let nature take its course" and die quietly, that is their right, but it must be voluntary and un-coerced by gubmint rules.

The government is forcing us all into public care and taking control of all our decisions.

I don’t disagree that there are abuses.

That said, a non-related physician or government bureaucrat has little interest in doing anything other than offing your relative, assuming there are plenty of patients to go around as there will be with Obamacare.

Medical care in the last few years of life is expensive, elderly people can be querulous and take longer to serve. If the care is more than the schedule the doctor and hospital don’t get the difference. Encouraging an early demise can be done at a reasonable cost, with a probably lucrative reimbursement from Obamacare.

That right there, my friend, is all the governments need to do regarding the term "healthcare".

Rein in, regulate, and police medical welfare.
