U.S. may delay aid for Israel's anti-rocket system due to budget woes

Delay comes as a result of Obama's difficulties in pushing next year's budget through Congress due to Republican opposition.

American aid to Israel for developing and buying additional Iron Dome anti-rocket batteries might be delayed for at least a few months due to President Barack Obama's difficulties in pushing next year's budget through Congress.

The delay will mean a long wait before the weapons can be bought from Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.

In May, the House of Representatives approved Obama's decision to grant $205 million in special aid to Israel to buy the additional batteries and intercept missiles. Israel has so far funded the development of only two batteries by Rafael

Why can’t the Israelis afford to pay $30.00 per citizen to come up with this $205 million? Is Israel’s national debt larger than ours?

I hope the U.S. says this to all the countries who come begging us for money. We cannot afford it. We have been supporting these folks for far too long financially. It is time for them to start taking care of themselves.

This is how you pay for it.

1. Take away all the money given to the PA, Hamas and Hezbollah.

2. Give it to Israel.

Problem solved

Why give to Israel? They are not a poor country. We should not be paying ANYBODY until we are out of debt completely.

My goodness. What a post. What I hate is that we send money to every country and really should be paying off our debt. I NEVER thought you would turn out to be a bleeding heart liberal. I am 100 percent stunned by your post. Perhaps to much eggnog yesterday I hope. Merry Christmas.

On the other hand, if we cut ALL aid to muslim countries (especially those mentioned and Egypt), and then give Israel what it needs, we will save billions.

By not giving them military aid, and when the Iranians, Hamas, Syria, or Hezbollah attack with their huge missile stockpiles, will anyone feel better because the US has helped it's bottom line, while watching thousands of Israelis die?

Does any one really think that a tiny nation - surrounded by 200 million enemies, our only ally in the middle east, a bastion of inventiveness - should be squashed for lack of aid from the US?

Israel's military is already becoming overwhelmed by the upgrading of arms and tactics from Iran, not to mention that the newer missiles can hit all the Israeli cities, nuclear installations, and military bases.

Israel has said that (for lack of funds) the first priority in missile defense is their military bases - civilians are on their own.

On the next hand, slashing the Dept of Health and Human Services budget from 875 billion (up from last year's 795 billion+) would just about take care of the US' financial problems.
