A Boston developer, testifying publicly for the first time yesterday in an explosive pre-sentencing hearing for former Democratic state Sen. Dianne Wilkerson, said he slipped the admittedly corrupt pol as much as $10,000 over the course of an eight-year friendship and she wanted $10,000 more before she finally went to bat for him in 2008 for his dream project of a life sciences center in Roxbury.
She did mention to me that cash would be preferable, said businessman Azid Mohammed, who was placed on the stand at the request of Wilkersons defense team, in hopes of undermining the prosecutions efforts to portray a pattern of corruption apart from the extortion charge to which she has pleaded guilty.

Best comment in the article:
“Even with this knowledge, Dianne Wilkerson’s constituents would vote her back into office tomorrow if they could.
The only thing worse than a corrupt Massachusetts politician is a Massachusetts voter.”
Certainly they would vote her back in, just like the Harlem voter put Charlie Rangel back in.
It’s a black thing, you wouldn’t understand.
I still think a current events test is needed before you're allowed to vote. People should see voting as a privilege to be earned rather than a right to be abused. I also wouldn't have a problem with requiring that you pay income taxes or own property as a condition of voting, either.
She is a state Pol.
Ten Giga-Dollars?
She must be related to Icebox Jefferson.
It doesn’t bother me that politicians have a price.
(We all do, mine is $40M.)
What bothers me is how cheap they can be bought.
Hey- I just posted this (hope it takes, and yes its all true) on the Herald site-rad my FR bio-this might color it a bit more:
I knew Azid. Here is a famous quote from him (words close): You have to be a liberal to be in this business in Massachusetts. I quickly qualified (to which he seemed to agree): inside 128, but he might be right. He was the GC for The Mosque designed by Goody Clancy, though I knew this only toward end of the 2 year tops relation. U can be sure virtually almost none of the considerable population of local architects will post here because they are hard lefties almost to the man (forget the women who are ALL LIBS). I was working for a stamp fulfilling affirmative action quotas in South Dorchester (who owes me a few grand still, interest cut off in 2006, thanks MA AG for all the help) and we did a couple very small residential jobs for Azid, who is a freemason it should be said, but a very likeable guy. Azid was rival to a certain prominent minority GC with an office near Grove Hall. Azid himself noticed the stamp employer worshipped [the rival GC]. Who am I?
(in intro line that’s “read”, not rad)
Post doesn’t appear to be taking.
I’ve been almost 2 hrs now. Posts of others are appearing as from a few minutes ago.
Membership confirmation email hasn’t come but its not stated as being necessary for post (via a click etc) YET I’ve received a new (2nd) password via same email address and attempted to login/post (via the one prescribed post) and keep getting asked to confirm membership.
Beats me.
Maybe its too sensitive? Goody Clancy has huge influence in Beantown...and that stinkin’ mosque.
