The headlines said that the Pentagon’s homosexual exclusion policy had been repealed. “‘Don’t ask, don’t tell’ is repealed by Senate; bill awaits Obama’s signing,” was the headline over the front page article in The Washington Post by Ed O’Keefe. But the article went on to note, in the 22nd paragraph, that top military leaders must find or certify that changes to the current policy “must not affect troop readiness, cohesion or military recruitment and retention.” How is this possible when Marine Commandant General Jim Amos has already said that the changes would cost lives?
Calling repeal a major distraction, Amos said, “I don’t want to lose any Marines to the distraction. I don’t want to have any Marines that I’m visiting at Bethesda [National Naval Medical Center, in Maryland] with no legs be the result of any type of distraction.”
The Post went on, “Even after the finding, lawmakers will be able to hold hearings for two months to review the Pentagon’s policies and procedures for accepting openly gay troops, according to congressional aides familiar with the matter.”

Maybe the force of that 22nd paragraph is the reason why Senator Kyl said that there is no plan now to reverse this weeks vote in the next Congress?

I think if gays were given their own quarters and assigned to separate duties than straights — there might be a wy for the military to negotiate around this until the law is changed.

Actually if the law has been repealed then that means, absent of a new law, that what was in affect before DADT should be back in place, in other words total banning of queers in the military. If not, why not?

The propagandists score another major coup re-writing history as the radical transformation continues apace right in front of our eyes. Don't buy it... there's no loophole. The Chiefs will have been given the order to frame their "findings" such that it'll appear there will be no negative effects. Unlike leaders of the past, no one of this current crop is willing to sacrifice his career over this.

They will not be able to repeal the UCMJ. Also, about those already in the military that are gay, the gays better not do an "in your face" and go public. If the military states that it will effect the UCMJ requirements then the repeal of DADT is mute and will be like the vote never happened. In the mean time, it is a shot over the bowels (pun intended) at the gays to get out of "This Man's Army" and repent.
Obama will simply replace any chiefs of staff that disagree with his policy. The Marine Commandant will have been replaced by this time next year. Count on it.
