A Clayton County mother of six said the family dog did what he always did when he saw someone. He barked.
But when "Boomer" started barking and running toward a police officer Saturday morning, the officer shot the dog and killed it, Lawrene King told the AJC Sunday night.
Hes a golden retriever," King said. "He barks, but hes never bitten anyone.
A Clayton County police officer was on foot patrol on North Shore Drive when the dog jumped off a porch and started barking and running toward the officer, Capt. Tina Daniel said. The officer ordered the dog to stop and when it didn't, the officer shot and killed the animal in its yard, Daniel said.
The officer, whose name was not released, was responding to a call reporting a suspicious person, police said.

Oh their kids get called names in school...boo-hoo-hoo!
The fact this retard might have kids and perpetuated his DNA is scary.
“). I would shoot an attacking dog that appeared unconfined ... even if it was still on the owners property.”
How do you differentiate between a barking dog on its owner’s property, and an attacking dog?
How many dogs have you shot?
And you believe him?
Ask any DA who’s lost a case because some cop “testi-lied” how cops prevaricate.
You have to have a brain to think.
This cop apparently has none.
Sue you optometrist for malpractice.
Obviously you missed INVISIBLE FENCE.
A 13 year old should know not to pet a strange dog without asking. Just sayin’ . . .
Do that to my dog on my property and you may have a red third eye yourself
Cops have no business on anyone’s private property unless the property owner summoned them or they have a warrant signed by a judge,
PERIOD
BTW, what if Barney Fife missed the dog and the bullet hit one of the kids inside the house?
Invisible fence products for dogs are common as could be in the suburbs where this occurred. They’re on the shelf down at Home Depot and Lowes. You should look the next time you are there. If you are living in a Unibomber hut in the middle of nowhere without either close, I’m sure TSC has them.
There are plenty of reasons for anyone with two brain cells to rub together to think a barking dog might stop.
Please stop posting to me and spreading your incredible ignorance and hostility towards innocent children. When people use “spawn” and advocate for school yard bullying - the conversation ends with me.
If you’re so afraid of dogs....stay in the house.
I hope your posts are just an Internet Tough Guy thing. Otherwise, you are likely to end up in a world of legal hurt while making the rest of us who take self-defense seriously and responsibly look bad.
Man, do you live in fear?
What I’d really like to say to you would get me banned from FR.
There was no need for the cop to even be there, period.

That’s actually known in law as “The Nuremberg Defense”.
Notice how well it worked at Nuremberg, though

>>Good call neighbors in high-crime areas are always honest when it comes to police activity .
You know this is a high-crime area? Do tell.
It looks like an upscale lakefront community to me. Probably significantly nicer houses than your digs.
>>The dog wasn’t anywhere NEAR the border of the property.
By the way, I just looked at the neighborhood. This is an upscale lakefront community with large houses on what look to be around 1/2 acre lots. If the dog was 25’ from the porch, as reported, you are indeed correct, the dog was not anywhere near the property border, and our various Internet Tough Guys on the thread look even more ridiculous. If that is even possible.
