Just some random thoughts on how we might drag the party into the conservative realm:
If we really want mega-success, we should include some thoughts, ideas, on how to replace a lot of state Republican Party Chairs.
In Texas, we have term limits on that position so the Chair can only serve 2 terms (8 years). However, most states do not term limit that position and the result is Chairs that have the same person for 20 or 30 years, creating that ‘good old boy’ network which dominates making the national party rules and electing the national chair.
This is the reason it’s very hard to change the DC party culture and drag the party back to more conservative policies.
We need committees in every state to check out their state rules and how to move their state party to more conservative stances.
In Texas, the County Chairs have a lot of power, along with the Exec. Committee, and can somewhat influence the outcome of State Chair elections.
Each state committee would need to see where the power really is at their state level in order to influence the outcome for State chair and ultimately National chair, rules, and policies.
Corrections, ideas, and input welcome.
I forgot to mention the “Seniority” rules at the national level, which compounds the problem.
