Students eye measures to keep 'movement' alive after Republicans block youth immigration bill

A group of Los Angeles college students plans to take their fight for immigration rights to the states and the 2012 election after Senate Republicans blocked legislation that would have given thousands of young illegal immigrants a path to legal status.

But it won't be easy.

Immigration experts say Saturday's vote to nix the proposal dealt a harsh blow to activists who will have an even steeper uphill battle in the next Congress.

Illegal immigrant students say they will push for access to financial aid and drivers' licenses in states like California.

Critics of the bill called it a backdoor grant of amnesty.

These kids take the entitlement mentality to new heights. Or should I say "new lows".

How could republicans BLOCK it when there is still a majority in both houses....does it need more than a ‘majority’ of votes?

Or did they just block it from coming to a vote?

I wonder what “immigration rights” they are referring to?

Illegal, what a meaningless term any more.

So we have illegal non-citizens lobbying for legal changes, and our govt listens to them. Whereas they ignore citizens born and raised in this country.

I don’t think a lot of people have sympathy for illegals right now!

“Illegal immigrant students say they will push for access to financial aid and drivers’ licenses in states like California.”

If California had even one testicle they’d deport anyone who tries either of these.

There is NO right of immigration. The school they attend should be closed down for incompetence...they clearly aren't educating their students. Defund the LA college now.

Get out of my country, parasites.

Leave now, and you can live.

How's that for a compromise?

" take their fight for immigration rights "

Rights?

You ain't got no steenkin' rights. Unfortunately, illegal alien baby-deposits are allowed to be handed automatic U.S. Citizenship, which is a total crapload that was put in place to appease big-buck donors who hire the illegals at Mexican wage rates, then let them get their "benefits" from the Liberal jerks who let them have free hospital care, free food, free welfare, free educations, etc.

Go back where you came from and get in line, instead of surviving as the result of ILLEGAL ENTRY and law-breaking.

Tell these illegals to take their "revolucion" and march it down to other side of the US border. Each one of these people is a criminal and deserves no reward for their criminality.

I wonder how many drive without a valid US driver's license? Why aren't they prosecuted for that? Anyone who is a legal US resident and does this would indeed face prosecution. How many of them use stolen Social Security numbers, again a crime for which legal US residents would be prosecuted.

It disgusts me to no end that so many politicians tolerate and encourage this behavior.

Senate REPUBLICANS blocked the legislation???? Three so-called republicans voted FOR the future creation of 40 million democrat voters!!! It was democrats, worried about the 2012 election, who killed the DREAM act. But don’t look for facts IN THE MEDIA.

How about this, you little illegal brats? Say “thank you” for the free American education you got at taxpayers’ expense, realize how lucky you are, and then go back to your parents’ home country and use that education to help your own people.

You’re welcome.
