I’m not supporting a “Steele must go” campaign until I have the name of the guy who’s taking his place.

So far, most of the people working against Steele in the GOP have been liberals. And so far, the alternative candidates have been establishment insiders more liberal than he is.

Thanks for the many pings abigail2. Well-stated Cicero. In general Republicans must go as must ALL Democrats. Too many are wavering, wannabe totalitarians. As it becomes apparent that the tea party caucus is overtaking the RINOS in the next 1-4 election cycles the likes of Steele will automatically be gone forever. I agree abigail2 but only differ in timing and method. Bottom-up. Inside-out. Top-down. Use many of their "Rules for Radicals" against them. Starting with Novembers "Bottom-up" election "shellacking". Let's play.

That’s pretty ironic don’t you think?

what you just said...

given that it was moderate and liberals including a fair number here who pushed Steele on us to begin with...mainly because of his skin tone rather than qualifications...I mean really...his winning qualifications were crap actually

Seems like the folks who run the GOP nationally have about as much in common with us as do the Dems

I never wanted Steele to being with myself.

How dare you point out his proven track record!!

That being said, his public gaffes give ammo to our opponents. And he needs to do a better job raising money.

Btw, those “GOP Supporters” are McCain and Romney types, checked pants, country club, inside the Beltway Republicans.

Uh, no. Thats not the case.

He maybe underperformed raising money in raising money for the RNC; but then again we are in historically one of the worst economic times in modern US history. Furthermore, the Bush-Rove years had driven off many RNC donors to contribute to individual candidates instead (myself included).

Top 10 Reasons Why Michael Steele Must Go!

1.Michael Steele does not believe Republicans can win. In January of 2010, Steele strangely told Sean Hannity that Republicans would not take back the House in the 2010 Mid-Term elections. (Instead they gained—seats!) (Source: The Fox News Channel).

2.Ineffective leader and fundraiser. According to reports, the RNC has raised half of what it raised under previous RNC leaders during an election cycle. And despite gaining at least 63 House seats during the midterm, fueled primarily by the Tea Party movement, Republicans could have done even better had the RNC funded a serious get-out-the-vote operation. (Source: The Washington Examiner).

3.Wasting donor funds.Steele has been criticized for lavish and questionable spending—including picking up a $2,000 tab for a donor’s visit to a West Hollywood topless club—and for promoting himself more than the party. (Source: NY Daily News).

4.RNC member calling for investigation into Steele’s spending. A member of the Republican National Committee’s top panel is calling for an investigation of Steele’s spending, warning that "cronyism" dried up big-donor fundraising this year and now is jeopardizing major-donor fundraising for 2012. For example, Steele hired Belinda Cook as "liaison" to the host city committee for the convention in Tampa, Fla., awarding Cook $15,000 a month plus a $25,000 "signing" bonus. RNC spending for Tampa through September exceeded $636,800 - or 18 times the total spent in a comparable period four years ago (Source:The Washington Times).

5.Flat out wrong on key issues. Michael Steele on abortion: “It’s an individual choice.” On war in Afghanistan: “This war is a war of our choosing.” (Source: Politico and CBS News).

6.Plays the race card and damages the Republican brand. In response to a question during an interview on ABC regarding whether he has a slimmer margin of error at the RNC because he’s black, Steele responded, “The honest answer is, ‘yes’” and added that Obama also has a slimmer margin. April of this year, Steele spoke to black students at DePaul University and told them that blacks don’t have a good reason to vote Republican. (Sources: Hotair.com).

7.Attacks fellow Republicans. In March of 2009, Steele said Rush Limbaugh is an "entertainer" whose show is "incendiary" and "ugly.” Steele to his Republican critics: "Get a life. … If you don't want me in the job, fire me. But until then, shut up. Get with the program." (Source: CNN).

8.Reinforcing the lie that Republicans don’t like blacks. In November of 2009, the RNC chairman appeared on TV One, a liberal black network, and said that white Republicans are fearful of blacks. Steele said: "I've been in the room, and they've been scared of me. I'm like, I'm on your side." (Source: TV One).

9.Turning off loyal GOP supporters and risking 2012 election. Steele’s scandals and gaffes are not what the Republican Party needs during such a critical election cycle. His tenure has caused countless faithful GOP donors to pledge to stop contributing to the party until he’s gone.

10.Lacks conservative convictions. Michael Steele is a weak leader and does not have the conservative convictions to unify and lead the Republican Party to victory in 2012.

Sorry Clemenza, I apparently replied to the wrong post.

Abigail2, although I detest Michael Steele, please remove my name from your ping list as I did not request the addition.
