There was large Jewish community in Turkey. There had been Jews in Iran for very long time. He happens to be one of them. I don't know where he stands on WOT. He sounds like a typical liberal Jew. He may be a jew in name only. There are many of them that act like one.
However, it may be a stretch to call him Muslim.
