"Scared" and "frightened" are words that are often misused, but today I think I am truly frightened for the future of our nation. One of the few things we've always been able to count on...the strength and solidity of the Armed Forces...is now is question, and that scares the living hell out of me, pardon the French.
I can hear the howls of laughter coming from enemy capitals...Mexico City, Riyadh, Tehran, Caracas, Pyongyang, Moscow, Beijing, Damascus, etc...at the thought of how easy it's going to be to do in our nation once and for all.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
I suspect if he needs to talk about it, he'll let you know. He has much to proud of; a lengthy service in the greatest military the world has ever known, not to mention, a fine son. Will you do me a favor? Shake your father's hand and tell him there is a family in Arkansas that thanks him for his service.
I share the sentiments expressed in the rest of your post. Not a pleasant picture to contemplate.
From our house to yours, Merry Christmas!
