The guy was not drunk from the look of it.
Interesting how the cops bring up this guys past.

Now I KNOW it was NOT my friend John.
BUT he sure as H was somebody’s friend and relative.
He may have been a drunk, but he didn’t deserve to die this way.
People who doubt that cops have to shoot people who are wielding knives against them are ignorant.
There is a VERY good reason that edged weapons are the same fall as firearms. But in this case it seems unlikely to have happened.
The JURY will decide.
