California - the world's eighth largest economy It is hard for me to believe that.
You have to ignore the minus sign in front of the total value figure.

In 1980, we were 9th.
In 2002, we were 5th.
In 2007, we were 6th.
In 2008, we were 7th.
In 2009, we were 9th
The death spiral continues.

Per capita income was $38,956 as of 2006, ranking 11th in the nation.
But there's approx 40 million people here.
$1.85 trillion Gross State Product in 2008 representing 13% of the US GDP...putting it in the "average" category per capita in the US.

$13/dayx30 days = $390 a month MORE that an elderly person must pay to stay in a retirement facility???
I say Declare chapter 11 now and don’t pay. Have the state officials come and throw the old people out.
Move to another State before the officials can catch up to you.
That is INSANE!
