If Barack Obama wins reelection in 2012, as is now more likely than not, historians will mark his comeback as beginning on December 6, the day of the Great Tax-Cut Deal of 2010.
Obama had a bad November. Admittedly shellacked in the midterm election, he fled the scene to Asia and various unsuccessful meetings, only to return to a sad-sack, lame-duck Congress with ghostly dozens of defeated Democrats wandering the halls.

Furthermore, Krauthammer said the GOP should not oppose the Reid spending bill because it would lead to a 1990s style government shutdown with the voters blaming he GOP. Plus he predicted the Tea Parties would not be a viable political force.
But 90% of the time he rather accurately and sharply bashes Obama.
“The greatest mistake Ronald Reagans opponents ever made and they made it over and over again was to underestimate him. Same with Obama. The difference is that Reagan was so deeply self-assured that he invited underestimation low expectations are a priceless political asset whereas Obamas vanity makes him always need to appear the smartest guy in the room. Hence that display of prickliness in his disastrous post-deal news conference last week.
But dont be fooled by his defensive style or thin-skinned temperament. The president is a very smart man. How smart? His comeback is already a year ahead of Clintons.”
I for one am sick of watching former Fritz Mondale speechwriter Krauthammer compare Obama favorably to Ronald Reagan and gush about Obama’s great intellect (of which there has been no evidence, empirical or historical), while continuing to lecture Sarah Palin on her lack of intellectual heft and to ignore the many times she has been far ahead of the curve on policy matters while Krautahmmer has been bringing up the rear.
Krauthammer’s gloomy column should demoralize no one. In an earlier column comparing Reagan to the current resident of the White House, Krauthammer saw the massive GOP gains in the House and the Senate as a silver lining for Obama that will help him in much the same way the GOP takeover in 1994 helped Clinton.

The problem with that analogy is that Clinton’s overreach with HillaryCare and overspending failed in 1993-4, so the economy recovered enough for him to win. Clinton did not win BECAUSE of the GOP Congress. He was aided by the worst GOP candidate in a long line of bad ones, the ancient Bob Dole and further aided by the Perot candidacy which siphoned off 10% of the vote. Obama will have to face Sarah Palin, the lady whom Krauthammer told to “leave the room” for “debasing” the health care debate in July 2009 because she had the temerity to speak the truth about the death panels.
2012 will not be analogous to 1996, but much closer to 1980. If Ronald Reagan looks to you like Barack Obama, well...you’re wrong, but I can cut you a break since you never really knew Reagan and in fact actively opposed him.
But.... If Sarah Palin looks like Bob Dole to you, Charles, you really need to have your contacts cleaned.
Prepare to be wrong...again.
Except that.
He also said a government shutdown would be blamed on the Rep because “people who are turned away from Yellowstone park for 2 days would not understand the the reasoning behind allowing the government to shutdown so a lasting and more responsible budget could be crafted” (paraphrase).
Ok so 10,000 people are turned away and let’s say ALL of them are rabid moon bats who go postal because the EVIL Rep won’t let them in the park. First of all these people wouldn’t vote Rep if their life depended on it and if half of them were rep and they didn’t vote for them because of this (unlikely), then we have lost 5000 votes in a national election, big whoop.
Charlie oughta put down the bong.
Clinton's election in 1996, was also notable in that it was the first time in U.S. history the winner was elected without winning the male vote. Idiot women kept the Clintoon in office, and the only fear we have in 2012 are idiot women who hate Sarah, black racists who love obama and homosexuals who hate Sarah. The rest of the electorate, sans the Communists, are up for grabs.
So many truths in this post... deserving of a big bump!
LOL he wishes he get that close.
Charles,
You are a smart guy, but seriously? What are you smoking? Obama’s act of political expediency against his desires is not going to be viewed as a comback.. a recognition of the change of the playing field, but hardly a comback. At the same time he accepts the political reality on this one, he and the leftist lame duck congress are doing spit in your eye bills that most people don’t want before they are removed from power.. bills that Fauxbama will happily sign.
This is not a comback, or even the beginnings of one... its political theater, nothing more.
Fauxbama will not win the nomination of his party to be the candidate in 2012, let alone win re-election.
Yep .. that ole Beltway disease rears its
head, as if he had his hand on the pulse
of regular Americans.
He’s brilliant for sure, but I think his
life in general is quite insulated and
isolated.
Not even the Dem leadership believed that would work, so they dropped the porky spending bill.
“I think- reading between the lines here- hes really paranoid about a certain somebody being the GOP front-runner. Hes been that way for a while now, and its unfortunate.”
And others are in agreement...

I’m surprised CK is trying to compare Clinton(94) and Obama(10) while totally ignoring the state of the country under both. Under Clinton the economy was essentially strong and growing steadily at 2.5-2.7 percent even before we retook the House. Unemployment was much lower and we were just beginning to enjoy the fruits of winning the cold war. We now have 10% unemployment, 1.3 Trillion dollar deficits, a falling dollar, oil rising, and stuck in a war in Afghanistan. I see more comparisons with 1979-80 than 1994.
I think Rush was talking about Charles today without naming him...lol, and then he went directly into odumbo and pelosi.
I think Charles just got so excited by Clinton’s remark that he felt compelled to write a piece of crap like this.
I knew this exact thing was coming, but I will confess some shock when I clicked onto the thread and saw the source.
bump for later read
