Christmas has been banned by the Red Cross from its 430 fund-raising shops.
Staff have been ordered to take down decorations and to remove any other signs of the Christian festival because they could offend Moslems.
The charity's politically-correct move triggered an avalanche of criticism and mockery last night - from Christians and Moslems.
Christine Banks, a volunteer at a Red Cross shop in New Romney, Kent, said: 'We put up a nativity scene in the window and were told to take it out. It seems we can't have anything that means Christmas. We're allowed to have some tinsel but that's it.
'When we send cards they have to say season's greetings or best wishes. They must not be linked directly to Christmas.
'When we asked we were told it is because we must not upset Moslems.'
Mrs Banks added: ' We have been instructed that we can't say anything about Christmas and we certainly can't have a Christmas tree.
' I think the policy is offensive to Moslems as well as to us. No reasonable person can object to Christians celebrating Christmas. But we are not supposed to show any sign of Christianity at all.'

I’ll be cutting up my Red Cross volunteer certification.
We seem to detonate less frequently.

Somebody in the Red Cross management hierarchy authored this piece of PC claptrap. He should be fired immediately and the policy reversed.
Nothing but self loathing. Liberals are ashamed of who they are, so of course they apologize for being Christian and willingly turn their back on their traditions for a bunch of savage headchoppers.
Well, Dang!! There goes another charity down the drain.
Not to mention the cross of St. Andrew and Patrick!
Marsha J. Evans, President and CEO of the American Red Cross... salary for year ending 06/30/03 was $651,957 plus expenses.
Brian Gallagher, President of the United Way receives a $375,000 base salary, plus numerous expense benefits.
The Salvation Army's Commissioner Todd Bassett receives a salary of only $13,000 per year (plus housing) for managing this $2 billion dollar organization.

“Dont Red Crescent ambulances in East Jerusalem have a tendency to explode?”
I think they did, and for a while there were rumours that they were used to get fighters to the skirmish location. Don’t know for a fact, though.
Im offended that they are offended and will donate to another charity.I ONLY donate to Christian charities. I hope no one here is offended by that.
The UK may be lost, but if the RC in the US tried such a stunt their fund raising would flop - big time.
Yes, I have contributed dollars and blood over the years.
“Ill be cutting up my Red Cross volunteer certification.”
The American Red Cross is a different organization. Look before you leap, they seem to be OK (I don’t care for their privacy policies, but at a recent blood drive there were Christmas decorations).
Whenever I’m out and about, the red kettles always get whatever change I have in my pockets. It adds up!
The International Red Cross is a completely left-wing, anti-American and anti-Christian organization hiding behind the name of a charity. They have nothing to do with the American Red Cross and the day they embrace any of that thinking, will be the day they lose American support and money.
Do Moslems even donate to the red cross?
Don’t forget the Brits recently banned the selling of “Hot Cross Buns”, an English tradition, because they had crosses on them. The UK is headed for the dust pile of history.
‘zackly.
ARC is not a part of the International Red Cross.
I donate three times a year.
If I lived in the UK and I gave to the Red Cross, I’d stop giving. And I’d encourage all my friends and relatives to stop giving. And I’d tell the Red Cross about this. Maybe then it would change their minds. Nothing like hitting in the pocketbook to get their attention.
My late father was a WWII veteran - he and many of his friends from the same era despised the Red Cross.
The Red Cross will never get one red cent from me.
