The Democrats are three votes short in the Senate of being able to outright pass the stand alone bill repealing Dont Ask, Dont Tell, but it looks like that obstacle has been overcome. Word has come down that not only will Senator Susan Collins be voting for it, but so will Senators Olympia Snowe and Lisa Murkowski.

This is definitely part of the tax deal!
Amazing how a mentally ill 2% of the population has such a death grip on the rest of us...we are destroying our military. Those ‘Protect Freedom, Elect Snowe’ bumper stickers look pretty silly right about now...
As if those 3 visibly dim witted women know anything about the ability of our armed forces to fight a war. And as if sexual behavior should be a political cause.
I am sick of 'deals'...
I still hold that some holes aren’t meant for some things. Just why do some find that to be untrue?
I am so thankful that normal people don’t feel the need to flaunt their sexual business in front of the world and demand that the world like it. - I think this is trouble. The first time one of the Barney Frank types hits on a heterosexual man in the military, the feathers will fly and, of course, for rebuffing (or hurting) the “gay” one, the “straight” one will be court martialed. Using women the way the military has in recent years has been trouble. . and, also requirements for toughness have to be “defined down” so that “nobody’s feelings will be hurt”. It is so pitiful to see mothers leaving their little kids home for months with grandma (or their dad) to go to war. PC in this country, and in the world, is malignant.
Ultimately it’s not homosexuals, it’s the leftists. Do you really think it’s so important for most gays who currently enlist to announce they take it in the keester? This is purely a militant leftist putsch to undermine our defense and society.
Don’t worry, I think one day soon, the New Confederate Army will have strict rules against faggots and no women need apply.
Agreed. DREAM will basically just codify what is happening in many places illegally anyway.
This is a concerted efforts by liberals to destroy the military and normalize homosexuality.
Most people don’t understand the threat that open homosexuality poses to security, and it was highlighted in the Wikileaks incident.
Everyone is saying “How did this low level enlisted guy get his hands on so much classified material?” The simple explanation (and usually the right one) is that the security clearance and storage systems are so mangled, underfunded and poorly implemented that if it hadn’t been this guy, it could have been a thousand other people.
But another explanation could be a homosexual affair with someone who had higher clearance, coupled with blackmail. It is probably the oldest trick in the book.
Supporters of repealing DADT maintain that if homosexuality is normalized, this type of vulnerability will disappear because there will be no official stigma associated with it.
The problem with that view is that most people understand homosexuality is a perversion and not a normal, natural situation. Even if it is accepted by some governing agency (like the military) there are ALWAYS going to be people engaging in homosexuality who don’t want anyone to know, their families, friends, workplace, etc.
Repealing DADT is a major issue.
Agreed.
It was a great run we had, though...I feel blessed to have lived and served through some great times. The best IMO were the heady, early Reagan years.
When it counts, they vote with the Progressive/Business-backed Agenda, and We The People are mere pawns.
Voting will not change the corruption and trampling of the Constitution, as has been shown with the placement of Judges who make their own interpretations to keep the populace at bay.
The time is coming for CWII, and it may be sooner, rather than later.
The fact that Alaska would reelect the spoiled, daddy’s girl Murkowski is helping us to learn more about the state, and not at all in a good way. The woman will probably show her rear end often until she nears another reelection campaign. Or maybe this is what Alaska wants from her.
IMHO, if repealing DADT passes, it will eventually decimate our military forces. I’m looking at the issue from a purely practical, dispassionate, historical point of view. I just do not think it will work.
I didn’t know Alaska had such a large number of lesbians. Perhaps they’re drawn to the plaid flannel shirts.
McConnell had better strip these women of any committee chairs or he should be replaced as “leader”. I’m deadly serious. If they vote for this, we need a new senate leader.
We could use another Civil War. I really mean that. Death to these traitors!
Ok, lets start a serious secession movement first. My guess Texas goes first. After the secession, let the USA'ers fire the first shot.
