The 2010 North Atlantic hurricane season was hyperactive. There were 19 named storms, 12 hurricanes and 5 major hurricanes. The busy season included two simultaneous Category 4 hurricanes--a rare event.
It is a mistake to equate the lack of U.S. landfalls with an uneventful or quiet tropical storm season.
