And Lord help you if you were of the wrong color.

I feel sorry for you, lady. You come to FR for some sort of celebration for a guy in uniform.

On this particular day, the sunset was to be at 4:40p.m., so they had 5 minutes of direct sunlight (if not in structural shadow) left. It was 75 degrees, the winds were out of the northwest at about 8 m.p.h.

They were reportedly 30m feet away from the man. There shouldn't be any "visibility" issues in this case. They had observed him long enough to confirm that he did indeed have something in his hands. Yet they did not immediately identify themselves and demand that he drop the "weapon". Had they done so, he would have probably wet himself and complied. Instead, a man that was sitting on private property waiting on a friend, playing with a garden hose nozzle, probably completely oblivious to the fact that he was being watched by police, was shot and killed under unjustifiable conditions. The guy probably never knew what happened and was dead before he hit the ground. A 12 gauge 00 Buckshot round has a way of making that happen, and so does a slug round, for that matter. At 30 feet, the distance at which this shooting took place the shotgun is a devastating weapon with either round.

I am am private contractor firearms instructor by profession, with the largest part of my customer base being law enforcement and military... There is no way I would let a LEO operate this way on the range, let alone on the street. Even on the range we require them to issue verbal commands and then act. Some of our targets are indeed "friendlies" and the students do have to pay attention. There is no "kill'em all" because they are just paper targets anyway... They will not pass and they will be reported to command. Sounds like there are some serious training issues and careless and/or malicious LEO's on the street there. Regardless of which it might be, there is no excuse for this happening.

Sad for the victim and his family...

Regards,
Raven6

I’m not saying the officers didn’t screw up big time. Yep, they did. I’m also saying the ignorant(?) misrepresentation of the situation by the neighbor set the stage for that, too. It has also crossed my mind that the neighbor may have, either for ‘amusement’ or out of malice, misrepresented the situation intentionally.

We’ll, then I would guess you deserve Obama, and 14 *trillion* in Federal debt, the next 15 generations of your off-spring will be paying on....

Yep. That's the way it works. You reap what you sow.

That's why I never vote for incumbents.

I operate on the principle laid down by the founding fathers. The government should be run by citizen-legislators who come from the private sector, serve one term in office, then return to the private sector.

I do my part to ensure that. How about you?

Do you vote for the same corrupt officials and then expect them to act differently once they're safely back in office?

Yup, had the guy been taking a leak by a tree they could have charged him with possesion of holding a pee shooter. Peeshooter/waternozzle, it’s all the same.

Perhaps you are too young to know about how it was for a black person in the fifties.

OK, thanks for that.

Ha ha! How did I know you wouldn't have the integrity to answer my questions?

What's the matter? Are you ashamed to admit you're part of the problem?

No.

But thanks for admitting you're partly responsible for Obama and this 14 trillion dollar debt.

Yes I do.

Sure you do.

So you're saying that you've never, ever voted for an incumbent? Even Bush in 2004?

I told you no.

That's what I'm saying....By the time '04 rolled around, I had total belly full of Bush and his Texas crowd.

Next question?

LOL. I lived those times and two of my dearest friends are Black women who lived during segragation. We have discussed this very issue and are still close friends.

I feel there are bad, evil and mean people in this world and when someone is targeted for skin color it’s wrong but we have all experienced some form of discrimination.

Yeah. Why did you vote for him in 2000? He did his most damage during his first term.

Did you really think he was going to be all that different from his daddy?
