(Video at link) A Florida high school basketball game turns into a wrestling match after a player body-slammed a referee on the court.
The incident, which was caught on video, shows Desoto High School player Mason Holland, identified by the Fort Myers News-Press, losing his cool after getting ejected during a game against Port Charlotte High School on Monday. He then took his aggression out on the referee, throwing him to the ground.
The refs refused to continue to officiate the game after the incident, giving Port Charlotte a forfeit win.

Wrong! Fighting is one thing; attacking a referee is something all-together different. If a high school hockey player tried this, it’s an automatic match penalty. That sets in motion a whole list of disciplinary actions and procedures. The case must be adjudicated within 30 days, during which time he may not play, practice or engage in any team function with his team.
If his team violates the rule, they can be placed on a sanction list by USAHockey and other teams may not play them. The player’s ultimate punishment can be up to a year on a sanction list; which “local authority” - the team, the league, the school and/or the state athletic board - can increase.
None of this would be ignored by any NCAA coach; and NHL teams would be incredibly stupid to ignore such behavior. But then again, THREE teams signed and played Billy Tibbets, a convicted rapist and sex offender.
Exactly. Unfortunately, the ignorance of the racist Freepers is often displayed in their comments on other issues. Why not ban those who can’t engage in civil discussion? Couldn’t hurt.
Yes, its racist because its not politically correct to point that out.
Good question, why the slam on UK?
You mean a "SCHOLAR-Aflete."
A violent race. Lacking mental capability, they excell physically in assaults and sports, in singin and dancin.
>>So you think your child’s team was the only one in this country to encounter amateur referees?<<
No, I don’t. And that was the problem. I saw it as pervasive.
The (insert ethnic group here) underclass seems to have extreme difficulty controlling their emotions. Quick tempered, prone to violence, exercise extreme caution if you happen to encounter them.
It is easy to picture this kid as a wife/child abuser with that kind of a temper.
Perhaps you have seen something I haven’t, because I have NEVER seen a hockey player intentionally attack an official, and I’ll wager that I’ve been to more pee-wee, bantam, junior, semi-pro and professional games in the last year than you have in your life.
Then again, your nick has “North Star” in it. Do you watch hockey at all? Do you cheer for Dallas, since they were originally from Minnesota? That too might explain your seeming hostility towards hockey.
The enforcers are there to ensure that the thugs on the other team play fair and leave the star players and goalies alone. They have no issues with the officials.
Each team has their muscle, and it is actually quite uncommon for the enforcers to be put in play, contrary to what you and the presstitutes try to convince the public.
Thanks for playing, though. Better luck next time.
That said, basketball is the most violent, bruising NON-contact “sport” I have ever seen. I can’t watch the “squeak-squeak” game for more than 5 minutes before there is some sort of blatant unsportsmanlike conduct, even in pick-up games at the local school.
All I see is a bunch of genetic freaks bouncing an inflated pig’s bladder and beating each other up for 4 X 15 minute periods.
That this kid attacked a ref is no surprise to me, since the game itself seems to attract sociopaths and the violent.
Totally understand your point. I’d just tweak it slightly by saying that today’s cars are a LOT more stable at higher speeds than their counterparts were in decades past.
No they were not. But there are some who deem FR the place for voicing their racist views. Thankfully, the mods do a great job of deleting such garbage.
Couldnt hurt indeed.
For now, the schools will use the language that his coaches, agents, and lawyers will use. He'll be described as "passionate", as "talented", as "emotional"... later in life, he'll be described as "not mature enough to handle the sudden money and fame", "a victim", and "at last getting alchohol and drugs behind him". Shortly thereafter, he'll be "guilty", as "disturbed", and finally as "Prisoner DR-20163597".
I was commenting on his raw aggression, not on who he attacked. That aggression, if chanelled correctly, would make that young man into a great enforcer theoretically. I never saw a punch as brutal as that since probert was in the league. Hopefully, he doesnt go around attacking refs on the ice. Hockey refs arent as forgiving as bball refs. btw, I play pickup every winter, so no, I am not bitter at the nhl.
