That referee made the wrong call - the guy in the red was pushing himself on the kid in white. - all the kid did was push that guy in the red off of him.

The red guy was pushing the ‘white’ guy, but the ‘white’ guy pushed the red in retaliation after the whistle blew. I think that calls for a technical. But to sum it up, it’s our usual Amish behavior.

The official called a technical not a personal. I suspect that is because he saw the player in white strike the player in red. Maybe he hit him with his fore arm or maybe an open hand or maybe a fist, I could not tell but I can see why the official called what he did. I do agree with you that he wanted the kid off him or out of his way.

As for the kid, I think he should be removed from the team. Basketball is an extra curricular activity. I think he should voluntarily apologize to the official. I think he should not be expelled from school. As for legal actions, certainly he could be prosecuted, but I think the people closest to this situation are the ones to figure out if he is a bad guy and should have the book thrown at him or is basically a good kid who let the heat of athletic competition get to him.

It doesn't matter if the ref made a right call or a wrong call it is the obligation of the players to play the game, not beat up the ref.

That young man looked fairly tall, and handled the ball well. Still, he gave up a college scholarship ~ no one wants an anger management problem like that on the court ~ or in court ~ which is where he's going.

Bet he's pretty good in prison ball though ~ he's pretty quick on pushing back so he'll get to keep his front teeth.

Doesn’t matter—the kid’s choice to punish the Referee ended his future, period. I hope the temporary satisfaction that he gained was worth it..

So the ref gets slammed to the ground for the wrong call? Man, the ref that took Calvin Johnson’s TD away against the Bears should have been shot!

The ref made the correct call - both of them.

Watch the video again. The ref blew his whistle to call a foul on the kid in red; and then called the technical on the kid in white.

Your point is that it was justified? You think a bad call should remove any Assault prosecution, because he had an "excuse"?

I suppose then that you can excuse ANY behavior of yewts who had bad childhoods, etc. so they are justified in shooting cops?

I seen to aqgree after watching the video the wrong player was charged with the foul. That being said, there is no excuse to what followed.
