Rahm Emanuel is expected to spend hours testifying under oath Tuesday at a hearing on whether he can remain on the mayoral ballot, with a long list of objectors quizzing him about whether his time away from Chicago at the White House makes him ineligible to run.
Objectors to Emanuel's candidacy argue he does not meet the requirement that candidates live in Chicago for a year before an election because he was serving in Washington.
Emanuel is lined up as the first witness Tuesday morning, facing veteran election lawyer Burt Odelson, who is representing the lead objectors. Odelson said he has 45 minutes worth of questions and is slated to be followed by an attorney for community activist William "Dock" Walls, who is running for mayor, and others.
Both sides are expected to make arguments based on interpretations of the many documents in the case. Odelson, for instance, has highlighted that the couple filed Illinois taxes as "part-time" residents in 2009 and amended that filing after the ballot challenge.
"The document speaks for itself; he declared himself to be a part-time resident," Odelson said.

It would be cool if they didn’t let him run!
I need some popcorn.

Wonder if a transcript will be available. FWIW, I was talking with a bunch of career city workers last week and they all seemed to think it was gonna be Emmanual that was to be deemed Mayor.
“The document speaks for itself; he declared himself to be a part-time resident,”
Geeeeeee, what more needs to be said
He said it himself

Note that in Step 1 you are required to state that you and your spouse were not full-year residents of the State of Illinois, and what days during 2009 you were a resident of Illinois, and what days your spouse was a resident of Illinois.
The machine is powerful, but it stinks.
PING!
“Rahm Emanuel is expected to spend hours testifying under oath”
(As if “under oath” really matters.)

Means very little to these people (’Rats). This whole thing is just political Kabuki Theater. Nothing is going to prevent Emanuel from running for mayor and being elected, if that is what he wants, least of all “trivial” things like residency requirements and election laws.
Rahm checked that off truthfully b/c, in his deluded mind, he wasn't going back to Chicago for a long, long time.
Then Obama's numbers started diving as the Tea Party ascended. Rahm was given the bum's rush out of Washington before Midterms----as disaster loomed---in hopes of saving a few Dem seats. Rahm committed the ultimate crime---he failed to protect Obama from voters' revenge.
Now out of power---Rahm desperately needed to show he was still a player---thus the mayoral run.
THE RAHM EMANUEL LOSER EFFECT 4-term (gag) Congressman Rahm was beatified as the man who masterminded Dems takeover of Congress and WH. Cong Rahm ran (gag) "Our Common Values PAC" and chaired the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee 2006-07.
Rahm had Dems winning in solid Republican districts running as "true believers." Rahm duped the voters again and again----he had Maoist Candidate Ohaha saying things like, "I want to be another Reagan."
The GOOD NEWS is ALL those Rahmified Dems are gone in the blitz of Nov 2. And Obama is treading on quicksand as we type.
Rahm's political aspirations in Chi-town look iffy, at best. What will Rhambo do next?
It has long been claimed that Rahm Emanuel wanted to find someone to keep his congressional seat warm while he served as President Obamas chief of staff. Now, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned that Emanuel wanted then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich to appoint Cook County Commissioner Forrest Claypool to his 5th Congressional District seat. Claypool would serve one or two terms and then be considered for a place in Obamas Cabinet, according to sources familiar with Emanuels proposal. That would give Emanuel the option of returning to Congress, where he could vie to become House speaker. (snip)

Chicago City Hall now (left) and 1907 (right) and the offices of the Cook County Board are in the same building in the 'Chicago Loop'. Its basically divided down the middle. 'City Hall' is on the west side, entered from LaSalle Street, and the Cook County Board on the east side, entered from Clark Street.
Looks to me Rahm-E has manipulated himself right out of a job.....poor thing ;~)
Maybe someone will pay him to keep quiet.....or not.
