'Sarah Palin’s Alaska’: Lessons in Manliness and Intolerance (Done Right)
Andrew Breitbart's Big Hollywood ^ | December 13, 2010 | AWR Hawkins

Posted on 12/13/2010 7:12:14 PM PST by onyx

Over the course of the past few decades, entertainment produced in Hollywood, news commentary written by feminized journalists, and propaganda spread by political action groups focused on protecting the environment have dealt a near death blow to masculinity via their all out demonization of guns, hunting, and manliness in general. And over the course of the past few weeks, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has single-handedly used her television show (Sarah Palin’s Alaska) to reverse this trend and restore manliness to its rightful place once again.

She did this first by clubbing a halibut to death after catching it in Alaskan waters, and secondly by shooting and field-dressing a caribou on a more recent episode.

Along the way, Hollywood elites, news outlets, and groups like PETA have literally come unhinged. Aaron Sorkin, who went took pains to stress that he’s involved in “film and television,” went on a profanity laced tirade against Palin for her caribou hunt. Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald bemoaned: “Most disturbing is the way [Palin] seems to enjoy causing suffering to other beings.” And the animal rights’ group Defense Of Animals, issued a statement that said: “Palin’s complete lack of compassion as demonstrated in this snuff video is disgusting.”

These handwringers certainly are an intolerant lot, aren’t they?

Fortunately, Sarah Palin’s Alaska provides lessons in handling intolerance that are just as valuable as those it provides on manliness. It does this by reminding us that it’s time for us to be intolerant for a change: that extremists who describe hunters with words like “shithead,” as Sorkin does, or insinuate that humans and animals are the same type of  “beings,” or equate joy over a successful hunt with a “lack of compassion,” do not hold opinions...

Hi, I just wanted to pass this along, in case you haven’t seen it yet.
************

“Ratings for Last Night’s Episode Looking Mighty Fine”

Ratings for Sarah Palin’s Alaska jumped up by 11% (about 300,000 more viewers this week), bringing the total number of viewers for last night’s episode up to about 3.1 million.

In addition to this increase in the total number of eyes on TLC during the episode, it was also a greater number of the specific kind of eyes television networks are usually looking for; according to the Nielsen ratings, they posted big gains in all key demographics.

Seems Joy Behar can’t stop hatin’ on Sarah as a major pass time. She just said it the other day literally :I hate the Palins: I have a huge gut feeling that Joy maybe kicked off the View soon.

I don't know about the View, but hopefully she'll be off CNN Headline News when her contract is up.

Yeah, it was too bad Kate messed up all the fun her kids were having. It couldn’t have been that miserable as she was letting on

"BTW, I remember one old timer that had to keep going to his truck... and taking a sip of some "medicine" he kept in the glove box... in a little silver hip flask... not in today's world... but then it was a different time and it was 13 degrees! :-)"

My brother (Eagle Scout, as is hubby) loves to reminisce about his camping trips. His leaders were all WWII vets who loved any excuse to get away for the weekend with their buddies. They'd round up the Boy Scouts, go camping, and sit around in the evenings with a six pack or two enjoying the campfire. The boys just ran around in the woods as boys will do, and the men kicked back. Times have changed, and our own troop is far more structured. Nobody would dream of bringing along beer, but they still have a great time. This past summer my husband and two sons went to Philmont together. It was a great experience for all of them.

She had 3.5 million viewers for the show.
I don’t know much higher her ratings could
go, but I think they will go up. She’s a
blockbuster personality and liberals hatred
toward her success is personified in Kate
Gosselin.

People that support ripping babies to shreds in the womb for their personal gain and convenience should never utter the word ‘compassion.’

Perfectly stated.

Thank you so much! That is excellent, except the whiny Gosselin part. Sarah is going to miss doing that stuff so often for eight years, but she’ll get back to it, I’m sure.

For Kate Gosselin, going to Alaska was a total disaster in more ways than one. Word is she might not be such a hot pick for reality TV after all.

On the contrary, I think all of the faked-up "drama" that comes with her is an asset to the not-so-real "reality" show genre.

Normal, well-adjusted people are boring. Wacky, dysfunctional people are entertaining.

The series has been for sale at TLC, but it's $29.95.. I see that Dr. Scarpetta has already linked you to amazon, and amazon will likely be much less in price when it becomes available.

LOL, "Silencers." I like that. I had no idea when I wrote that post that it would strike a chord with so many. Thank you.

Thank you also. I guess I’m not the only one who is fed up with lib’s misuse and misunderstanding of the word ‘compassion.’ I can hardly think of any Progressive policy that doesn’t create more suffering rather than reduce it.
