Ever since Joshua the only real claim anyone has had to this land is force of arms. Israel will belong to the Jews so long as they have the strength (physical and political will) to keep it.

Even Joshua's claim was not sufficient in and of itself, God did not give the land, only the claim to the land; Joshuah relied upon the force of arms to take and hold Israel.
