The US Senate is reportedly one vote away from passing cloture for the so-called DREAM Act, which would allow a path towards citizenship for millions of illegals if the attend colleges or serve in the military.
The bill passed the House during a late-night session last week with a vote of 216-198. It was then shelved by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid after Republicans threatened to filibuster any legislation not related to the Bush tax cuts.
It is believed the single vote belongs to Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown, who has disappointed many in the GOP with his RINO-like votes since getting into office. The Associated Press reports a coalition of left-wing educators, religious leaders and advocates are making last-ditch efforts to pressure Brown into voting for the legislation.
The bill also contains the line allowing Janet Napolitano to arbitrarily waive any and all provisions and grant mass Amnesty to about every illegal alien in America if she or her successor wants to:
Grass-roots conservatives were stunned to hear former House Speaker Newt Gingrich support the two main tenants of the DREAM Act during an interview on the Laura Ingraham Show at the beginning of the month.
The story is being under-reported or being ignored by not only the mainstream media but conservative outlets as well, as focus on the Wikileaks Cablegate scandal and political drama surrounding the Bush tax cuts takes center stage.
2012
Once they get into the DC culture, they quickly forget all about “real life” back in America, which they expect never to have to return to. They also expect that no one in their immediate family will ever have to live there again either, I imagine.
To answer my own question... Scott Brown is up for re-election in 2012. If he doesn’t clean up his act, he will lose a primary to a more Conservative challenger, even in the Massachusetts Republican Party.
Better a ‘Rat than a RINO...
The GOP is acting like they WANT A THIRD PARTY to challenge them.
GOP is on a very short leash. If they keep screwing the pooch, the Tea Party will bolt. What tea gives, tea takes.
PSALM 37
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fretit leads only to evil.
9 For those who are evil will be destroyed,
but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look for them, they will not be found.
11 But the meek will inherit the land
and enjoy peace and prosperity.
12 The wicked plot against the righteous
and gnash their teeth at them;
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he knows their day is coming.
14 The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow
to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose ways are upright.
15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
and their bows will be broken.
May it be soon, O Lord, may it be soon ...
If they pass this, we need more than a freakin' third party. We need a bloody civil war!
Who the hell are grass-roots conservatives?
Tea Party Movement people haven't' been in Newts corner for a loooong time.
Tea Party people are the grass roots of this country and Newt, Rove, Steele and others that jumped in front of the parade of the TPM are transparent to them (us.)
I'd like to see the list of this author's grass-roots conservatives.
Why am I not shocked or surprised about being let down by an American politician?
“...by an American politician?”
I don’t know who they work for...but it is NOT We the People....
The Left is using this as leverage on the tax bill. I hate Washington. If this passes, we may as well not even bother with elections.
This is happening during a lame duck session. Many of these people are no longer elected. It’s incredible what they got passed in the last few weeks. It’s like it’s all been pre-arranged.
2012. He will be replaced by a Democrat most likely. The reason he won last time is that his opponent was not liked by the Democrats.
They certainly aren't listening to the Tea Party Movement ultimatums very closely.
The thing the GOP doesn't understand that if there is a third party, they will find themselves with that moniker.
Look what this so called tax deal gets us . Dream , Chain Migration , Dadt , billions in pork . Great work Pubbies .
Wow. Romney actually has control over the House? Who knew? And you think that he can’t beat Obama????
The DREAM ACT already has 2 Republican votes:
Lugar and Bennett.
Romney and his Legion of MalignantBOTs always help Obama.
That is, HELP OBAMA. Like they did in Election 2008,
and Election 2010. Take care, naps.
Is that constitutional? Can Congress delegate that power to the Executive?
Article I Section 8 Clause 4: "To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;
What is "uniform" about a Cabinet member making arbitrary rulings about naturalization?
Furthermore, the rules of one Congress are not binding on future Congresses. How can Congress delegate its power to the Executive in a way that binds future Congresses? What if the 112th Congress wants to take back that power?

They figure, it's worked on all the others. There is no priciple in Washington any more. No one.
