Sources: RNC Chairman Steele to Announce He Won't Run for Second Term

Published December 12, 2010 | FoxNews.com

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele is expected to announce he will drop out of the highly contested race to keep his post, multiple RNC sources told FoxNews.com on Sunday.

Fox News has confirmed Steele sent an e-mail to committee members Saturday night with the subject line, “conference call.”

In the note, he asked members to join him "for a private conference call" Monday evening.

I guess this didn't count.

That happened in spite of Steele, and the GOP.

It was the Tea Party Movement that caused that and Steele talked down the TPM in the beginning, like Newt and others that later jumped in front of the TPM parade when they realized they couldn't stop it.

All that happened in spite of steele - not through any actions on his part.

“It was the Tea Party Movement that caused that and Steele talked down the TPM in the beginning,...”

Then why do you care who the GOP puts in as head of the RNC?

I’ve looked through the list of some of our participants preferences and I wonder if anyuone efver gave any thought to Fred Thompson heading up the RNC...

I figure he needs to get in therequick to facilitate and reinforce another November 2010 performance from the Republican party...Get the Rino’s well identified and unsupported, and get some real people in there to complete the job...

Because I still have hope for the GOP.

I thought maybe the TPM would inspire them to return to conservatism. You know, the stuff they used to believe in.

It would be great if they elected a Constitutional Conservative.

We will see.

LOL yea I don't put much stock in the GOP

What with Rove (hates the TPM and the conservative movement, Newt (late to the TPM, just lip service to try to gain viability) and the rest of the elite Republicans fighting the battle against Conservatism and for the Status Quo I don't see it happening.

You certainly have a point there.

But hopefully as I said a Constitutional Conservative small government tax cutting fiscal conservative tea party aware type will run and win.

LOL I crack me up!

Heh

I wouldn’t go and give him that much credit because Scott Brown is one of those “Blue State” Republicans much like Snowe and Collins are. And for the record, the “Blue Staters” on here that I have interacted with in the past are far more conservative than Brown, Collins, and Snowe.

Many people in MA were fed up with Fat Ted, the “dynasty” and were put off by the sense of entitlement that the democrats had over Sir Osis of Liver’s seat.

As far as winning the House, I’m guessing that you are referring to this past election which the results really had nothing to do with the RNC or Steele’s actions. In fact in many races there were true conservatives who were denied support by the RNC in favor of wishy-washy RINO’s.

Case in point, NY26 (special election that happened in 2009 IIRC) where the RNC supported candidate lost the primary to a conservative. In the end the “jilted” candidate turned around and supported the democrat. Almost the same scenario happened in Delaware and Alaska in the Senate races.

Then there is the RNC’s support for flip-floppin’ juan mclame who went out of his way to throw the 2008 election. Then in the midterm juan ran to the right of his challenger and then once re-elected went right back to supporting amnesty like the good little bootlicking RINO that he is.

We could very well have a bigger majority in the House as well as control of the Senate if it wasn’t for the backstabbing by Steele and the RNC.

Good riddance. Now maybe we can get someone who isn’t a RINO. Hopefully we’ll get someone better, not worse.

Though Steele is conceding, I think sour grapes has a lot to do with it... it comes down to “bad form”.

Michael Steele has a good victory record. In this environment, no one is going to be “good enough”. I feel sorry for whoever takes the job.
