After his wife told CBS' Leslie Stahl how much of a journey it has been for the family that her husband John Boehner went from nighttime janitor to Speaker of the House, the Congressman began to cry.
"You know what's happening over here," Stahl said, pointing at Boehner while tears begin to form.
"What set you off that time," a perplexed Stahl quizzed Boehner. "He cries all the time?" Stahl asked in complete wonderment.
"He's gone from mopping this floor (points to floor) to being Speaker of the House," Stahl said while Boehner was holding back tears.
"Welcome to America," a tearful Boehner replied to Leslie Stahl's bedazzlement of his tendency to cry while speaking about achieving the "American dream.

A jackwagon was the last wagon in a wagon train, where the cooks worked, the mess wagon.
Weeping for joy is a very normal, very human response. If someone has never done it, maybe their life rots and they need to figure out how to solve that problem. Or they need to figure out how to quit being a dead zombie.
She was just POKING Boehner last night to get him to cry at the drop of a hat!
It was embarrassing, but not nearly as much as this HIDEOUS TAX DEAL he will vote for!
STOP THIS BILL or we will give you something to cry ABOUT!
The politically correct way to say "Jackass" on a TV commercial?
True. But that’s not a derogatory term. I believe the drill sergeant was substituting.
Now I remember flatheads, crank phones and bottles of raw milk and cream...but the jackwagon was a little before my time.
Have you ever been a poor as he was, worked as hard as he has...He IS the American Dream...crying does not equal weak..
Anymore elitist here want to bring him down before he has had a chance to be the Speaker of the house?
Cry..ya he cried..he went from poor humble beginnings to being the third in line for the presidency.
I for one have more respect for him now that I know his story...so put a sock in it and give him a chance...you have him for at least 2 years.
Well, there is a time a place to cry. And if Boehner wants to fine, but not on national TV/interview. And not as an incoming majority leader — please!
This behavior simply reenforces the appearance that the GOP leadership chronically has — the inability to be effective when handed the responsibility by their constituents — no purpose, no determination, wasted opportunities.
There’s no time for Boehner’s weepy nostalgia. It’s time for wimp compromisers to GET OUT OF THE WAY. They’ve have wasted OUR resources, OUR hard earned money, OUR and OUR children’s futures — for generations. Washington is an utter mess, the GOP has a big hand in that mess, and HE’s the one who cries?
Maybe he is a “nice” man, but so far, he hasn’t acted like he can handle the type of leadership we absolutely have to have. Nobody cares how he FEELS. We care about how he and his colleagues plan to save this country. MAN UP, or GET OUT!
They’re all jackwagons as far as I can tell.
We will see how real he is and please do not single me out to say “put a sock in it”.
Low T
“Boehner needs to go through boot camp with Lee Ermey.”
Gosh, that’s for sure. Boehner needs some half-inch rebar inserted in the middle of his back, he’s been there too long and has adopted the GOP DC mentality, i.e., “losers.” I predict that(and it pains me to say this because I want these guys and dolls to stop Obama), as Speaker, he will be as much of a disaster as Denny Hastert was-I hope I’m wrong.
Certain things-- songs, melodies, statements, photos and more-- trigger certain memories which may trigger tears. For example, go visit the Veteran's Memorials on the capital mall and stand afar off. I guarantee you that it will be just a matter of time before you see real men shed tears.
n. Slang term derived from the Freight or Chow wagons used in the late 19th century. These were often the last wagons in a wagon train, making them the least favorable to drive due to the dust, waste, and debris from the front of the train.
When used as in insult it refers to one’s lack of intelligence, implying the insultee is capable of no more than operating a Chow wagon.
1. From the old west wagon train Era. It refers to the Freight or Chow wagons that were pulled by Mules. Jack are male Jenny are female mules.Usually the slowest wagon in the wagon train. It was at the back of the wagon train. One of the worst jobs being in the rear eating the dust and smell of all the wagons and livestock ahead of you. This term was used to refer to you as being slow or only capable of the worst job available.
Originally a Jack Wagon was simply a large, specialized wagon that hauled the massive manual jacks used back when logging was done mostly by hand. The trees were raised slightly by these jacks to allow cutting into more managable sizes for transport from remote forest locations. Over time, with the introduction modern mechanized equipment (e.g. large Bobcat-type vehicles, etc), the need for these heavy hand cranked jacks disappeared. Spotting a Jack Wagon at a logging site came to mean you had found a crew that was seriously behind the times and out of touch with getting the job done.
When WWII broke out and logging camps were cleared out by the draft, this term was applied by these former loggers / new recruits to the seriously out-dated equipment the US military entered the war with. Many units were initially fielded with WWI-era rifles and artillery. The term jackwagon (reduced to one word) found a quick home with these troops and spread to become a general term for anything out-dated or out-of-touch with surrounding reality.
But it wasnt until Congress decided to make the military more user-friendly and kind in the post-Vietnam 70s that the term spread to describing people. When cursing and swearing at recruits was banned, drill instructors (DIs) had to find a new vocabulary to get their very loud message across. And one of the terms appropriated was jackwagon, meaning a recruit who was not focused on reality, the here and now or the requirements of the job at hand.
At least Clinton was faking.
Nancy Pelosi... Jackwagon
I am really beginning to wonder about Boehner. Maybe Bachmann is a better choice for Speaker.

House Minority Leader John Boehner has a reputation among Washington insiders for his hard-partying ways, but public suggestions that Boehner might have a drinking problems have been a rarity. Thats what makes MSNBC host Joe Scarboroughs remarks about the Ohio Republicans bar-hopping habits worthy of notice.
I hear it on the Hill, Im sure you hear it on the Hill all the time, its not reported, Scarborough told a guest from Politico on Wednesdays Morning Joe. But so many Republicans tell me that this is a guy that is not the hardest worker in the world.
After five oclock, six oclock at night hes disengaged at best, Scarborough continued. You can see him around town. He does not have, lets say, the work hours of Newt Gingrich. Every Republican I talk to says that John Boehner, by five or six at night, you can see him at bars.
Weiner is just what his name implies...except he's a quintessential pr#ck instead of just a standard one. He's the a$$hole who you wanted to beat the sh&t out of in high school.
“One of the toughest guys that I ever knew cried quite often. And he was a WW2 vet who could rip just about any man’s head off and spit down his neck if he chose to.”
Seeing snippets of this interview only RAISED my opinion of Boehner. As a female, I know that women crying sometimes makes them look weak and emotional, so I try to avoid doing so in most environments. But for some reason, when a tough guy cries occasionally, particularly when talking about his family and country, it strikes a chord. Sure beats B.O.’s inappropriate, chimp-like baring of the incisors.
