Teenagers have discovered yet another thing their grandparents did when they were young.

All we had when I was a teenager was cigarettes and beer or booze (lifted from a parent's cupboards). In hindsight, those were very good days compared to the present time. Some of the more daring kids added "something" to their coca cola that allegedly made them pass out. There's ALWAYS been a "something" for daring teens to experiment with.

Used to be this inhaler, the Benzedrex nasal inhaler, that was over-the-counter. It contained, among other things, racemic amphetamine free base. So instead of inhaling it, you’d make a foul tea with it and get wired, very very wired. There is a jazz tune, Who Put the Benzedrine in Mrs Murphy’s Ovaltine? When amphetamine went on the Controlled Substance Act Class 1 list, they switched to propylhexedrine.

Then there’s Asthmador, you were supposed to smoke these Asthmador cigarettes to stop wheezing. They contained belladonna leaves (or maybe Jimson weed), and if you made a tea, you could get a dissociative, hallucinatory high for a day or so.

People will seek out these experiences, they have for thousands of years. lol There are probably an equal number of people shrieking BAN IT! since Thag the Caveman ate some strange mushrooms.
