December 12th 2010 Blizzard Photos from Wisconsin

Here are some photos of our yard after last night's storm. We got about a foot or so of snow. Perhaps 15 when it's all done. The winds up have gusts to and sometimes exceeding 50 miles an hour today. Post your photos and stories. Luckily no trees fell on wires or our house! And we didn't lose power.

That actually sounds very scary and certainly didn’t help you with a good nights sleep. We had significant tree damage last year. If you are to follow us, your Spring will not be pleasant. It will be a lot of work picking up and discarding all the brush. I guess the only good side is you can use dried pine cones as fireplace starters. We pick up a bag in the Fall and use them during the winter. Sleep tight, tonight!!

Beautiful photos but it's evident that that was "wet" snow and not the friendly fluffy kind.

Here in S.E. Michigan, it's been snowing the wet crap all day so I've been outside several times today shoveling the stuff off my driveway even tho my condo association has a snow removal company which hasn't come by yet.

Good thing I did because the temps have now dropped to 20 degrees and all that wet snow would have frozen solid with no chance of shoveling.........

I HATE WINTER!@

I love a heavy snow. It’s the only time my yard looks as good as my neighbors.

I’ll have to show the drift up to the roof to my kids. They don’t believe me that as a kid (grew up in Minnesota) we would sled off of the roof.

Although that hill behind the patio photo looks like a real nice sled run - not too steep, and enough trees to make it interesting!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!! But, not here though. Yesterday we were out putting up more Christmas decorations in our short-sleeve shirts.

We've got a couple of inches here in Northern Kentucky. They did a good job on major roads and highways, but my subdivision has been a mess! It's 22 degrees and the streets are nothing but ice.

Luckily my husband and I had met up and were traveling home together. I had to leave my car about 5 blocks away from the house and hop into his truck.

I believe yesterday our daytime high was near or slightly above 70 degrees. We’ve had a good amount of snow in the mountains thus far, and much earlier than usual. But, the past few days have been quite mild.

Finally, back online! Our internet went down last night.

It’s cold today, about 5, but sunny and the winds have diminished. Thanks for looking!

I’ll tell you, it’s worse looking now that the sun is out. Spring will bring a BIG job. But, on the bright side, we’ve got more firewood!

Our internet went out last night. We're finally online again. You know, some guy should make an ice golf course on a lake. Drill some holes, and hold a tournament. That would be fun! Ice golf! Heck, they have turkey bowling in International Falls.

I’ve never seen the Narnia films. I’m saving that for when the grand kids get older. It’ll be fun to watch them when they’re old enough. What age do you think is appropriate?

Here’s the typical pattern. Tons of snow, temps in the 20’s. When it’s over, huge drop in temps. Today is in the single digits. It’s ‘normal’ for us.

Blizzard picture from Southeast Tennessee....

It almost buried my hose nozzle!

OK, so we didn't get much snow. It's still pretty doggone cold. 18 this morning, and possibly single digits tomorrow AM.

Our trees are worse than the pictures show. Especially now that it’s sunny. Spring will be a huge cleanup.

Up here, we’re ready for it. And, you tend to get more ice in the south than we do. I HATE ICE! I’ll take snow over ice any day.

It’ll be work, but we use wood, so, on the bright side, we’ll have more firewood. I know it’ll be more work, but, what is the alternative? We’ve been using pine cones for a long time. We have an abundance of them. Would you like a pickup full? We throw the leftovers on our burning pile. Yes, we have a burning pit.

That’s the best blizzard shot ever! I was wondering what it was, and had a huge laugh when you explained it! Stay warm. I heard Orlando was going to be in the 20’s. There goes the price of OJ.

You can always take a peek at my page. There’s some nice stuff there.

This is the worst damage we’ve ever had here (16 years here). I’m just thankful that our house and wires were not hit. I got out this morning, our entire road looks like our yard. This area got the worst in our area. I was in the city this morning, didn’t see anything like it. Rural has it’s ups and downs. I’ll take well and septic and going to the dump once a week over higher tax bills any day.

No alternative at all but hard work. I did stock up on some Advil for our Spring. A good, long soak in a hot tub did wonders plus I had a recipe for a hot toddy that seemed to make everything okey-dokey!
