You were aware, of course, that black slaves were NOT allowed to just stop by a gunsmith's shop and pick up a firearm.

Later on in Dred Scott the Court confirmed the common belief ~ to wit: slaves had no rights.

That is a RESTRICTION ON RIGHTS
