Are they shipping the U out of country to be processed or doing it here? This is probably just a strait business deal to acquire the mines and make some money, that’s all. U prices have gone up like all metals lately and with the dollar down it is a good time for them to buy, had they bought into two gold or copper mines would that upset anyone also?
If they wanted to pull something illegal my bet would be they would go to Africa, plenty of mines and a much less lax inspection of the final product.

Welcome to the wonders of “free trade,” where everything we have is up for sale.... at fire-sale prices.
Strategic resources? What a quaint, outmoded notion.

Here's a real stock story for you. When ARMZ launched its takeover bid, Uranium One fell to about C$2.00 per share. There was a lot of panic and wild stories about the "Russian way" of business - i.e., the minority shareholders would get screwed. Part of the deal was a $1.00 special dividend, whose record date has now passed.
Now, the thing sells for $4.85. Anyone who bought when the fear was rife got about $2.00 turned into $5.85 ($4.85 + the $1.00 dividend.)
[Google page here; one-year chart here. The most recent fall is due to the company going ex-dividend.]

Uh...I think we’ve been transported to an alternate universe. Everything that’s up should be down. Everything that’s down should be up. Logic is out the door. It’s happened before. About sixteen years ago, in fact. We really need to put an end to this strange portal to alternate universes...once and for all.

Hey all you “free traitors” out there. Looks like a great deal, eh? God forbid the US should not allow a foreign company to buy whatever they want here.
Next thing you know the Chinese will buying some US mines, agricultural businesses, oil, natural gas or tech companies. Nothing wrong with that? Right, you free trade dupes and stooges? Libertarianism uber alles!

Two uranium mines in Wyoming are on their way to control by a Russian company now that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved transferring the mines' licenses. Surrendering US sovereignty is not only an IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE, it is TREASON!

One of these mines is in my county and it was owned by a Canadian company that sold to a Russian co. I do not understand why US companies don’t buy the resources we have in this country. Is it more costly for US companies to operate these mines with taxes and regulations?
