Bennett definitely sounds out of touch with reality, and he's delusional.

He needs medical help.

Tis just a flesh wound.

Actually, I'm beginning to wonder if Bennett might be trying to set himself up for a post-senate lobbying job with an organization that favors amnesty and no enforcement, such as the Chamber of Commerce, or some other lover of cheap, illegal labor.

I would like to have an honest debate on illegal immigrants.

My first point. Lock down and secure the borders. Regardless of the illegal immigrant debate, this is vital to both local and national security.

Second point: There are a large number of illegals in the US who are productive citizens working in an underground economy that provides cheap labor. This underground economy benefits the economy by providing a relatively cheap workforce. This is a huge benefit that many people discount.

The drawback of illegals is the social services aspect (education and medical benefits).

My contention is that the benefits of cheap outweigh the costs. And if this point is disputed, the gap between cost/benefit is trivial when compared to the deficit spending related to Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, and the military.

With this being the case, why not drop the whole illegal alien discussion and focus on securing the borders. Illegals would still be taking their chances while we would still get the benefits of a cheap labor force. Sort of a don’t ask/don’t tell/don’t get caught policy for illegals.

We may decide that, on balance, it will be necessary to grant some illegals the right to stay here legally, but under no circumstances should we allow them ever to have the right to vote. That is a privilege of full citizenship and as far as I am concerned there must be some permanent penalty for having been an illegal immigrant. Besides, to grant the right to vote will grant the Dems even more advantage than they currently enjoy. I would consider it part of my ‘defund the left’ imperative.

“This underground economy benefits the economy by providing a relatively cheap workforce. This is a huge benefit that many people discount.”

Wrong on all counts. We the People are forced via high taxation to subsidize that “cheap labor.” That’s called privatizing the profits and socializing the costs. Tyranny.

Secondly, that “underground cheap workforce” doesn’t pay into the tax base yet pulls out mega-$$$ from it. Hired American citizens pay into that tax base, lowering costs for all taxpayers.

They better not. They need to get give the illegals incentive to go home and seal up the borders. I am sick of the globalist’s open border abuse of the American people and I am sick of the foreign triablism known as muliticulturalism where no one knows about the constitutional ideology and culture they came here to enjoy.

If costs are what you are concerned about (and you should be), your focus should be on:
1) Medicare/Medicaid
2) Social Security
3) Defense/Military

The deficit spending as a result of the programs above absolutely dwarfs the costs associated with illegal immigrants.

It would be great if we could debate the costs of illegals and have meaningful impact to the deficit but this is just not the case. I choose to spend my energy focused on the huge and obvious deficit contributors rather than the distractions.

Here's MY Dream Act, Bennett:

Notice goes out that all persons in the country illegally have one month to return to their countries of origin.

Large contingencies of our troops on foreign soil are ordered home.

Federal and state LEOs deputize as many citizens as want to take part, and they start rounding up all the illegals that didn't leave as ordered. Returning military can help.

A large unit of special ops fellows lands in, say Somalia, and secures the airport for an extended period.

All the rounded up illegals, and the ones currently incarcerated, are flown over to Somalia, and escorted off the planes, to start their new lives.

The rest of our military forms a front along the entire southern border and advances south with extreme prejudice.

Once their mission is complete, they come back home, and an impenetrable border fence is installed.

It's a good dream. Maybe we can send some of the RINOs like Bennett over to Somalia while we're at it.

“However, my guess is that he has talked to about two people.”

About four immediately come to mind - Collins, Snow, Graham and McCain (not necessarily in that order:-)))
