CS Lewis was a Christian apologist. They need to read “The Last Battle”. He makes it pretty clear.

Doesn’t the estate of CS Lewis have any say in how his characters are portrayed?

Apparently neither Johnson nor Neeson has ever read the Chronicles. There is a representation for the Muslims in those books. Their god’s name was Tash.

Next they'll be telling us that the great works of Orwell & Huxley weren't a reference to Marxism.
I never figured Neeson for a bimbo.

What it “means” to Neeson is irrelevant.
What it means to the story line and to those who know what C.S. Lewis stood for is.
If they haven’t “corrupted” the character of Aslan, then it shouldn’t matter.

They don't deserve ONE RED CENT from me...EVER!! Besides I despise HELLywood actors!

So much for Neeson’s reputation as a theologian.

So Neeson the actor and some of the others involved in the film are ignorant fools who can’t see or admit what should be patently obvious? What is new? We are talking about Hollywood! Personally, I am going to enjoy the movie!

“Dawn Treader” producer Mark Johnson agrees with the, shall we say, more inclusive analysis from Neeson, telling The Hollywood Reporter that “resurrection exists in so many different religions in one form or another, so it’s hardly exclusively Christian.”
Really? Like which ones? Reincarnation is not the same as resurrection. Chesterton, in “The Everlasting Man”, knocks this out of the park when he says that’s the specific and exquisite difference between Christianity and every other religion: God became Man, died and rose again. No other major religious figure ever even CLAIMED to be God.

Liam Neeson must be trying out for the role of Shift the ape if The Last Battle is ever filmed. He's looking to be the spokesman for Tashlan.

Pity they got an idiot to be Aslan’s seiyuu. Neeson has a nice voice and delivers lines well, so I guess that’s really all they wanted. Couldn’t they keep him away from the press?

"Aslan symbolizes a Christlike figure, but he also symbolizes for me Mohammed, Buddha and all the great spiritual leaders and prophets over the centuries," Neeson said. I haven't read the book or seen the movie. Does Aslan also marry prepubescent lion cubs and encourage other lions to kill those who don't like lions?

The actor said at a news conference last week that his character doesn't necessarily represent Christ. OK, hold on. This doesn't say that the Aslan in the movie represents Mohammed. It says that the guy who does his voiceover is a typical hollywood jerk. But presumably he reads what the screenwriters gave him to read, and doesn't express his own stupid ideas in the movie.
So, we need to wait and see what the actual movie does, and what reliable reviewers say about it. I saw the earlier movies, and found them true to Lewis's books. Aslan dies and then comes back to life. Who else is that but Jesus?
So, wait and see what the movie has to say for itself, not what some dumb jerk chosen for the sound of his voice has to say at a news conference after the movie was made.

ABCDisney News is running this story. Disney originally brought the Narnia franchise to the screen but is not the studio behind this latest effort.
Perhaps Disney would like to see this film boycotted.
FWIW, in a earlier thread, it was said that Liam’s comments were taken out of context.
I just thought I’d present some background as to why this may be “newsworthy” to a competing media company.
