The last time a British monarch issued a command was when King George VI refused to allow Churchill to participate on the Normandy invasion.

I once read an article (on line= so take with a grain of salt) that discussed the amount of money that Britain has to spend to maintain the crown. Can’t remember the figure but remember thinking that it was a big sum. Given that the queen is one of the riches people on earth, maybe austerity should include eliminating the monarchy. Not defending the violence but I can understand the sentiment.

He didn’t so much command Churchill not to go, as he did threaten to accompany him on the trip if he insisted in going...

The monarchy also brings money into the country through tourism.

How do these jackasses find time to riot? I was too busy either studying or working.
I am getting the distinct impression that most of these students neither need or want to work and their studies mainly involve riots, rebellion and revolution. They may have attacked Prince Charles' car for extra credit.

Rather than using the horses they should have gotten the water canons out. Or teargas.

This is what happens without an exemption up to age 26.

That was the official story, but what really happened was Churchill’s navy commander told Ike about Churchil’s plan, despite being told not to tell anyone, and Ike had the King tell the commander that Churchill had decided not to go. The King then told.Churchill that if the PM would parrcipate then do should the King, which was not going to happen.

Time for these inbreeds to realize their time is up. Monarchies are morally reprehensible.

What in the HELL was he doing driving through a demonstration ... there is really something wrong with that royal gene pool ... hes the result. It's just the noble version of, "no angry mob is going to order me around!" You can call it "bullheaded" if you like.

Your class envy is very unattractive. Or is it anger toward attractive women? Perhaps both.

hardly envy, only contempt. What do you call a woman who chases after a man for eight years while not working and jet sets all over the place boozing?
Secondly, on FR, most men rant about such women, so why should you be so defensive of her? What about morals? What about being someone who makes their own respectable way in the world?
