SO.... Righthaven get $75,000 a case ?
Out of 180+ cases filed, 77 have been closed (as of the end of Nov. 2010) for an estimated total of over $269,000.
That would give an average of $3,500 per case.
No wonder the MSM is losing money.

When FR was snagged, I was blasted as a ‘conspiracy theorist’ and told to leave FreeRepublic by one of the members here because I knew this was too coincidental and that nothing was coincidental with Obama.
People have their antennae very high right now.
They don’t “get” 75K/case, they *demand* 75k in damages per case, really because they have to. Diversity jurisdiction is in play because entities of two or more states are involved, and under federal rules of civil procedure, you don’t get in the door for these multi-state gigs unless you ask for 75K or above. See 28 U.S.C. § 1332. The settlements are the real measure, and they’re chump change, unless you’re a poor blogger, so they’re really just looking for a control effect rather than a money effect.
I know and it is why I don’t come in often anymore.
I forgot to add, great work as usual. I like how you put everything in one area and make it easy.
Should file a class action counter suit, requesting attorney’s fees and multiples of cost re-payments due to frivolity of suit and effort to stifle discussion. It sure confuses me what falls under the “fair use” copyright doctrine.
