I believe that they are exactly who they profess to be.
However, the REAL question is who is funding their cross-country hatefests.
I have my suspicions as to who it is, but I have no proof.

I believe the Free Republic DC Chapter did that when they came to DC one time, if I remember, they concluded Phelps and his family gang are deliberately riling people hoping to get punched. Then they sue the puncher on First Amendment grounds because they are "protesting."
It's not about God, politics or anything else but making a living through litigation.
