I was being “nice”; I did say that not everyone on unemployment were slackers feeding at the trough.

This IS welfare! Actually, it would be cheaper to have the unemployed on welfare, than on unemployment.

The longer one gets these freebies, the longer most will refuse to take a job they imagine is beneath them and whatever skills they once have atrophy!

There was once a time when being on the dole ( welfare ) was viewed as being shameful; now, many see it as a way of life.

Three full years of unemployment benefits is unreasonable/insane!

Obviously, you aren’t a part of the group against whom I am railing against, so please don’t take this personally.

Yes, I understand your post was not at those who are doing what they have to to “avoid” unemployment. There is an element of pride and dignity that keeps those of us taking whatever job is available....and further watching for opportunites as we work those jobs.

Just today a manager of a banquet facility mentioned their place of business, I jumped on the “possibility” of being on call when they are short handed. Do I want to do that...no...do I want to make money..yes. It really is that simple when you are in an area where work is difficult to come by. It means adding those few dollars to the whole and for that “surviving” the downturn in ones life...hopefully temporarily.
