After dumping thousands of secret US diplomatic cables in the public domain last week, WikiLeaks ended up losing its web hosting company twice and its wikileaks.org web domain to boot as providers got cold feet about its content. But a plan being hatched by fellow travellers in the file-sharing community may shield the controversial data dumper from such takedowns in future.
It all started with a tweet on 28 November: "Hello all ISPs of the world. We're going to add a new competing root-server since we're tired of ICANN. Please contact me to help."

great idea
I keep waffling between thinking Wikileaks are asses or heros.
I see the benefits of doing this.
The Open DNS projects are much further along than being mentioned in public media.
Cisco and Siemens are going to make a fortune off selling tyrannical regimes the hardware necessary to block the new root DNS addresses and traffic. If FCC commissioners, Michael Copps and Julius Genachowski and all of the cheap whore legislators to the RIAA and MPAA have their way, the USA will also be enslaved under the regulations that make use of the Open DNS system a criminal felony.
Open DNS will also be made illegal in otherwise thought of ‘free countries’ such as Australia and the UK.

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."
Apeears that new tunneling apps are in order.
I see the sexual story as a diversion for the stupid while these devious evil scumbags are all working together for a common goal. The curtain opens the show begins but the real show is backstage. This is designed to distabilize governments and turn up the mistrust dial leading or misleading most people on both sides to mistrust the present government leading again in to the arms of the very ones who are conductiong the orchestra.
What about circumventing land based choke points with satellite ISP?
BTW, communications today are much better than they were back in Adolph Hitler's time.
A: A Bureaucracy acting merely for its own self-preservationorB: Governance constrained within the singular purpose of securing the inalienable rights of the governed.
