The ones we tried didn’t even come close but that was about 4 years ago so they may be better now.

Me either, plus they give some people, especially those prone to migraines, headaches. They make my eyes water, and that is a fact. I am stocking up on Incandescents just in case. I use the curly ones in some places but not everywhere and not in my bedroom. I was having a he** of a time trying to figure out why my eyes would start watering and stinging suddenly out of the blue. A little experimenting led to the conclusion it was the CFL bulbs. Why, I don’t know, I just know it is true.

I’m lucky to get a year out of one. Those that do last take longer and longer to warm up.

I haven't been keeping written records, but I don't think I am getting 10 times the usage out of CFLs. I think turn them on and off is hard on them. The bulbs themselves really vary in light quality, as well.

I got one to last about 6-8 years. Though that was only on for a few hours a day, on a timer. The rest last 3-5 years, usually closer to 3.

No, we had to replace several CFL bulbs that were no where close to five years old. OTOH, we have one incandescent bulb - it is on an electric eye - that has been in the front yard lamp post since 1990.

Can't really say. I installed a bunch of them 5 years ago and haven't had any fail.
