Townhall has received the following statement from Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell on tonight's proposed tax compromise: I appreciate the determined efforts of the President and Vice President in working with Republicans on a bipartisan plan to prevent a tax hike on any American and in creating incentives for economic growth. Their efforts reflect a growing bipartisan belief that a new direction is needed if we are to revive the economy and help put millions of Americans back to work. Members of the Senate and House will review this bipartisan agreement, but I am optimistic that Democrats in Congress will show the same openness to preventing tax hikes the administration has already shown."

McConnell Praises Tax Deal, Applauds Obama
I'd note that this is a far more magnanimous statement than the president's, who spent a good portion of his brief remarks attacking Republicans. It also signals that there will be general (though perhaps not unanimous) support for the plan among members of the Senate GOP caucus. Senate Democrats -- and especially their House counterparts -- are a different story altogether. As I mentioned earlier, the White House will send Vice President Biden to Capitol Hill to reassure unhappy members of their own party.
RINO’s are always prepared to take the wrong side.
IDIOCY!! Mitch DIDN”T have to Praise the POS....STFU, Mitchy!
When is he up for reelection?
Mark this RINO for elimination...
Miotch, how bout that debt, you girls keep a runnin’ up. Pathetic.
A deal with the devil...
I see it as Mitch being the one in control and being benevolent to stoop to offer 0dumbo faint praise.
0dumbo’s whine will be I think, seen as what a loser says to try to make himself feel better
Is there anyone in USA who didn’t know 0dumbo campaigned and railed repeatedly on ENDING Bush’s tax rates?
Guess what 0dumbo LOST
and really I think most people will understand that
Is the unemployment insurance extension paid for?
Of course it isn’t, the GOP is worthless.
Hewitt is coming uglued over the rinos that made this deal and I agree. This deal sucks. Bachmann for speaker.
What, was Mitch supposed to say publicly that our caucus remained unified which meant we had Barry by the balls because his choices were cause an across the board tax increase next year or cave in to an extension of all Bush tax cuts? So, we whipped Barry's ass and made him eat crow on his campaign promise? And it's even better because the dumbs@#t agreed to a two year extension so the Dims have to fight the next election advocating tax increases again? It's the truth, but you don't say stuff like that to the press.
Go to hell Mitch and when are you up for reelection this will NOT be forgotten,You senile fool.
I’m not sure McConnell is sharp enough to pull this off, but wouldn’t it be wonderful if all this was a big setup?
Obama agrees to the tax cuts. The lefties go crazy angry.
McConnell and the Rino’s praise Obama to the hilt, and then the Democrats vote down the big compromise?
I have never thought Mitch mCConnell was the right man for the lead spot - what about Senator DeMint - now there’s a leader! I think this deal does 3 things:
1) It does make Obama out to be the liar he really is
2) Republicans blinked when they should have stood up and said “bite me”
3) Strengthens the Tea party for 2012 as the Republicans are sooooo country club types (especially in the senate).

I don’t see a problem here. Do you want Mitch to call him a pick and a socialist? We got something here that was almost impossible a year ago. The GOP made Obummer walk away from an issue he promised his base for 4 years. Tax cuts for the rich was all he railed against. We have a 2 year extension of all of the cuts, and a deal on death taxes that isn’t total crap. We are winning the issues here and to fault this stooge for saying something innocuous about the One is fine. Action, not talk is important here.
Liberal heads explode when repubs praise obamao.
I bet that thought never crossed his mind.
