"It was traveling northwesterly from a point between 15 and 35 miles away, but the exact distance cannot be determined from the static picture in the video." Since the area near the California coast was already in darkness, How is it that the "nearby" launch started off in full sunlight?

I’m sure that you can see the well lighted vertical plume, and that as the plume advanced, the lighting improved (in the early portion of the video) thus showing that it was indeed traveling westerly.
