More than likely, they hit it on something while loading the plane. It should have been checked at the first stop before flying into the hunting area. Not only does it make the future president look like a bad shot, (which I’m sure she is not), but it would be very dangerous in the event of a bear or wolf attack.

Generally bear and wolf attacks happen at close range. Having the sights off by a few mils doesn’t matter. One mil is an inch at 100 meters. A bear at 50 meters (and closing) is a big target, and off by 10 mils is less than one side of the left shoulder blade to the other side of the left shoulder blade.

IIRC, Dad took a tumble down a steep slope prior to them spotting her caribou. It is very possible that caused the scope misalignment.

That they left the entire sequence in says something about Sarah. It could have been easily portrayed as ‘one shot, one kill” but that’s not what really happened. Sarah puts it all out there and then deals with it...I like that a lot!
